Job summary

Sea Labs Indonesia is recruiting a senior backend engineer to design, build, and scale reliable systems powering Sea's wide range of services. You will develop in Java, Go, or Python, collaborate with product, data, and frontend teams, and own the end-to-end code quality from design to deployment.

You will optimize for performance, reliability, and maintainability, mentor junior engineers, and integrate AI/LLM capabilities where applicable, while thriving in a fast-paced, globally connected tech

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience in scalable systems.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design.
• Relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis).
• Hands-on with CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, scalable backend systems.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code with best practices.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and QA teams across full development lifecycle.
• Lead technical design discussions and produce design docs.
• Mentor junior/mid engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into backend services when applicable.
