Job summary

Yayasan Hutan Tropis is seeking a seasoned regional leader to develop and operationalise the Indo-Pacific strategy, translating Earthworm Foundation’s mission into clear priorities and impactful action.

The role will build and lead strategic partnerships with governments, companies, civil society organisations, implementing partners, and donors to grow impact and funding; lead and develop the senior team; and ensure effective organisational and operational delivery across the region.

Qualifications

• You are an experienced and purpose-driven leader with at least 10 years of leadership experience.
• You may come from a multinational corporate, business, or international non-profit/NGO background, with strong experience in sustainability initiatives.
• You have proven experience developing strategic partnerships and business opportunities with governments, companies, and other stakeholders.

With most of our staff operating directly on the ground where the issues are, we work with our members and partners to regenerate soils and forests with and for people.

Yayasan Hutan Tropis was legally established in Indonesia in 2005 as a national non-profit organization (Yayasan). We are affiliated with the Earthworm Foundation as the implementing partner for activities in Indonesia. Our offices are based in Semarang and Jakarta, with a total of 73 staffs. Our operational areas include Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, and East Kalimantan.

Your Role

Lead the development and operationalisation of the Indo-Pacific regional strategy, translating Earthworm Foundation’s mission into clear priorities and impactful action.

Build and lead strategic partnerships with companies, governments, civil society organisations, implementing partners, and donors to grow impact and funding.

Lead and develop the senior team, fostering a culture of trust, transparency, collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.

Ensure effective organisational and operational delivery, including team structure, prioritisation, and oversight of administrative, legal, IT, and financial processes.

Drive innovation and thought leadership to strengthen Earthworm’s value propositions, approaches, and impact.

Represent and strengthen Earthworm Foundation’s presence across the region, working with diverse stakeholders and navigating complex and changing environments.

Your Profile

You are an experienced and purpose-driven leader with at least 10 years of leadership experience, including a proven track record of leading senior teams and functional structures. You may come from a multinational corporate, business, or international non-profit/NGO background, with strong experience and understanding of supply chain transformation, environmental sustainability, or human-nature conservation initiatives.

You are a natural relationship builder, with proven experience developing strategic partnerships and business opportunities with governments, companies, and other stakeholders. You are comfortable engaging senior leaders and working across diverse sectors, and ideally bring experience working across multiple countries or at a regional or global level.

You lead with trust, transparency, and collaboration, while being comfortable having difficult conversations, challenging ideas, and developing people and teams. You combine strategic thinking with strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and have the agility to navigate complexity, uncertainty, and changing organisational dynamics.

You also bring the ability to provide oversight of administrative, legal, IT, and financial processes, ensuring quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery. You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher, are a native Bahasa Indonesia speaker with professional fluency in English, and are an Indonesian national. Experience in an international NGO or environmental non-profit would be an advantage.
