Job summary

PT Marcopolo Shipyard seeks a Welding Engineer to oversee all welding activities and ensure compliance with WPS/PQR. You will perform visual inspections, prepare technical reports, and guide material selection and troubleshooting.

The role includes WQT coordination with the Class Society and maintaining certificates; strong English is required. Fresh graduates are welcome; prior shipyard experience is preferred, with a focus on welding standards and quality assurance in a dynamic project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with focus on mechanical/naval fields.
• Must possess a valid IWE certification and shipyard-related welding experience is preferred.
• Fresh graduates may apply; strong English skills are required.
• Solid understanding of welding processes, inspection methods, and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and verify all welding activities to ensure compliance with WPS/PQR.
• Conduct visual welding inspections and monitor activities for quality and procedure adherence.
• Prepare comprehensive welding reports and technical documentation for standards compliance.
• Provide expert guidance on welding processes, material selection, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct WQT and coordinate with the Class Society; maintain WQT certificates and continuity records.

Job description

Oversee and verify all welding activities to ensure full compliance with established procedures (WPS/PQR).

Conduct visual welding inspections and monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality standards.

Prepare comprehensive welding reports and technical documentation regarding compliance with international standards.

Provide expert technical guidance on welding processes, material selection, and troubleshooting.

Conduct WQT and coordinate with the Class Society.

Maintain WQT certificates along with continuity records.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.

Must possess a valid International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification.

Relevant welding engineering experience, preferably in a shipyard, is preferred. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Good understanding of welding processes, inspection methods, and relevant welding standards/codes.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team and dynamic project environment.
