Job summary

National Oilwell Varco is seeking a Welding Engineer to prepare and implement WPS, PQR, and WPQT documentation in Batam. You will plan procedures, manage welder qualifications, and coordinate tests with production, QA/QC, and inspectors.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Welding Engineering, an IWE certificate, and Uunderstands welding codes. You will review drawings, ensure contract compliance, and drive process improvements on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field is required.
• IWE certification is required.
• Strong understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, fabrication and welding quality control.
• Familiarity with international welding codes is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and related documentation.
• Plan welding procedures using existing qualifications or develop new ones to meet project needs.
• Manage welder qualification and continuity records per codes and client specs.
• Coordinate welder qualification tests with production, QA/QC, inspectors, and cert bodies.
• Review project specs and drawings to ensure contract compliance.
• Provide welding engineering support during fabrication, including troubleshooting issues.
• Investigate non-conformities, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with clients, classification societies, inspectors, and internal stakeholders on welding matters.
• Support welding inspections, procedure approvals, and clarifications throughout projects.
• Ensure all welding activities meet project specs, international codes, and company standards.
• Promote continuous improvement in welding processes and quality.

• Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification is required.
• Basic understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, fabrication, and welding quality control.
• Familiarity with international welding codes is an advantage.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop in a fabrication environment.
