Weir is seeking a Project Manager in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a hybrid role with office-based work and travel as required. You will lead project planning, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination across a global mining technology portfolio.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background, 10+ years in mining, and strong English/Bahasa Indonesia communication skills. This role emphasizes safety, leadership, and technical oversight across material handling and fixed plant systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with construction project experience.
• Minimum 10 years' mining industry experience focusing on material handling and fixed plant systems.
• Strong PM skills: scheduling, cost control, estimating, and resource allocation.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia for stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Scheduling: Create and manage detailed project schedules, allocate resources, monitor progress and deadlines.
• Budget & Cost Management: Develop and oversee project budgets, track cost variations and implement controls.
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the central communication point between teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Leadership & Team Coordination: Assemble and lead project teams, assign responsibilities and motivate members.
• Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on delivery.
• Technical Oversight: Apply knowledge of material handling and fixed plant equipment to meet requirements.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to subcontractors, vendors, and key customer sites within SE Asia.

What you’ll do

• Project Planning & Scheduling: Create and manage detailed project schedules, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met. You will rationalize defects and risks that may arise, ensuring projects stay on track.
• Budget & Cost Management: Develop and oversee project budgets aligned with schedule milestones and scope commitments. Track cost variations and implement controls to maintain financial discipline.
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the central communication point between project teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Manage expectations, provide regular project updates, and address concerns promptly.
• Leadership & Team Coordination: Assemble and lead project teams, assign responsibilities, set deadlines, and motivate members to achieve project objectives. Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and service teams.
• Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
• Technical Oversight: Apply technical knowledge in material handling and fixed plant equipment, including rubber lining projects, to ensure project requirements are met with technical credibility.
• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to subcontractors, vendors, and key customer sites within Southeast Asia, primarily Indonesia, to conduct inspections and progress reviews.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in engineering and construction projects.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in the mining industry, focusing on material handling and fixed plant systems (conveyor systems, rubber works, crushers, screens).
• Strong project management skills including scheduling, cost control, estimating, and resource allocation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia for effective stakeholder engagement.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience managing aftermarket and rubber lining projects.
• Familiarity with technical drawings and engineering coordination.
• Proven ability to motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Previous exposure to customer-facing roles and managing key account relationships.
