Job summary

Jhpiego seeks a Program Manager to support UNFPA-supported projects at the national level in Indonesia. The role focuses on improving maternal and newborn service delivery, with emphasis on West Java and Central Java, and strengthening midwifery education nationwide.

The candidate will liaise with the Country Director, coordinate with senior staff, monitor budgets and activities, and ensure alignment with donor policies. Travel within Indonesia and abroad may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience at similar level.
  • Experience in maternal, newborn, and child health; strong technical knowledge.
  • Experience in midwifery education programs preferred.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement efficient program management processes.
  • Experience in managing project reporting processes.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, including report writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel within Indonesia and internationally.

Overview

Jhpiego seeks a Program Manager to support UNFPA-supported projects at national level . The project aims to assist Government of Indonesia to improve the quality of maternal and newborn service delivery and contribute to reductions in rates of maternal and newborn deaths in the provinces of West Java and Central Java, and to improve the quality of midwifery education both at national level and in selected provinces.

Responsibilities
Programmatic
  • Support Country Director to translate the national project workplan down to province and district level activities with clear implementation guidance and monitoring systems
  • Coordinate with other team members at national level including Senior MNCH Technical Director, Research and Evaluation Director, and Finance and Administration Director to develop activities and corresponding budgets and ensure implementation in accordance with the approved workplan
  • Monitor activity implementation, manage project operations, and track project spending in coordination with other relevant staff
  • Ensure project operations within his/her scope are in alignment with donor and organizational policy and procedures
  • Support Country Director with workplan development and modifications (if needed) and in conducting program reviews
  • Support Country Director in engagement with key partners at national level
  • Manage work of consultants in coordination with other staff
  • Contribute to the analysis, synthesis, and reporting of project outcomes and results in donor-required as well as ad hoc reports
  • Escalate issues to Country Director as appropriate
  • Deliver any other task as assigned by supervisor
Internal Communication
  • Build and maintain coordination with the relevant national and district staff to support success of the project
  • Work closely with Jhpiego home office staff to ensure effective, timely and coordinated project implementation
  • Provide timely updates and progress reports (including targets vs achievements) to Country Director
  • Ensure continuous performance monitoring of supervisees
Public Relations And Representation
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other key stakeholders in Indonesia to maximize resources and leverage synergies around programmatic MNH and midwifery education issues and programs
  • Represent the project interests in public and professional circles through meetings, conferences, and presentations, as assigned by the Country Director
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working at similar level
  • Experience working in maternal, newborn, and child health and strong knowledge of the technical area
  • Experience in working in midwifery education programs preferred
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement efficient and effective program management processes and systems
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing project reporting processes
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, including report writing and dissemination
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Written and oral fluency in English
  • Ability to travel within Indonesia and internationally
