Job summary

AME Group in Jakarta, Indonesia is seeking an experienced Product Owner to own the backlog across data pipelines, ML, economic modelling, and client-facing applications. You will be the entry point for requests and decide what the engineering team builds next.

You will collaborate with CTO, engineers, QA and UI/UX, document requirements, prioritise workstreams, and lead sprint planning to ensure delivery across multiple squads. English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Product Owner/BA or equivalent
• Experience defining requirements for internal, B2B or data-heavy software
• Experience working with engineering teams in Agile or Scrum environments
• Able to manage more than one workstream at a time

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize backlog across squads; translate CTO direction into sequenced work
• Write Project Initiation Document and Business Requirements Document for multi-sprint work
• Own Product Requirements Document covering workflows, features and acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with senior developers on technical specs without making decisions
• Lead backlog grooming with QA and UI/UX so stories are sprint-ready
• Lead sprint planning and coordinate capacity with Head of Engineering
• Attend daily standups and address questions across squads
• Run user acceptance testing and approve/reject work before sprint review
• Lead sprint review demonstrations to CTO and business
• Work with UI/UX to prototype work 1–2 sprints ahead
• Run regular product update sessions for internal stakeholders

About the role

As Product Owner, you will own the backlog that decides what gets built and why, across multiple parallel workstreams spanning data pipelines, machine learning, economic modelling and client-facing applications. You will be a point of entry for every request, and the person who decides what the engineering team works on next.

Key responsibilities

• Own and prioritize a backlog across the squads you serve, translating direction from the CTO and the business into sequenced work
• Write the Project Initiation Document for anything needing a go/no-go decision, and the Business Requirements Document for work spanning more than one sprint
• Own the Product Requirements Document for every piece of work: user workflows, feature list and acceptance criteria that define what "done" means
• Work with each squad's senior developer on technical specifications without making the technical decisions yourself
• Lead backlog grooming with QA and UI/UX, so every story is ready before it enters a sprint
• Lead sprint planning, confirm capacity with the Head of Engineering, and escalation competing priorities
• Attend daily standups and answer questions from any squad the same day they are raised
• Run user acceptance testing, accepting or rejecting work before it goes to sprint review
• Lead the sprint review demonstration to the CTO and business
• Work with the UI/UX designer to prototype upcoming work one to two sprints ahead
• Run regular product update sessions for internal stakeholders

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or equivalent product role
• Experience defining requirements for internal, B2B or data-heavy software products such as data pipelines, analytics platforms or workflow applications
• Experience working directly with engineering teams in an Agile or Scrum environment
• Able to manage more than one workstream at a time

Mandarin language ability

to work directly with our cross-country engineering team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or a related field
• Scrum Product Owner certification is an advantage, not a requirement

Skills and Experience

• Writing clear, structured requirements and acceptance criteria
• Backlog management and prioritization
• Agile and Scrum practices: sprint planning, grooming, review, retrospective
• Working with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or similar
• Clear, precise written and spoken English
• Genuine interest in learning commodity research, mining economics and financial modelling
• Comfortable saying no, and explaining why, when a request does not fit the priority
