Job summary

Assegaf Hamzah & Partners in Jakarta seeks a Mid Associate (4–7 PQE) to join our Family & Private Client Practice. You will handle estate planning, wills, succession, and cross-border private client matters for high-net-worth clients with regional reach.

You will work closely with Partners, mentor juniors, and contribute to practice development, templates, and knowledge management while maintaining high-quality drafting and client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law from a reputable university.
• 4–7 years PQE at a reputable law firm, private client practice, tax advisory firm, family office, or related professional services organization.
• Strong interest in succession planning, inheritance, estate administration, family business succession, private wealth, and high-net-worth advisory work.
• Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Able to manage matters independently while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Commercially minded and capable of understanding client objectives beyond legal issues.
• Comfortable working directly with high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and family business principals.
• A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and experience supervising junior lawyers will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on estate planning, wills, inheritance, succession, estate administration, family governance, and family business succession matters.
• Handle cross-border private client matters involving multiple jurisdictions and coordinate with overseas counsel.
• Prepare legal advice, legal opinions, wills, powers of attorney, family arrangements, succession documents, and other legal deliverables.
• Manage client relationships and participate in meetings with clients, family members, advisors, notaries, tax consultants, trustees, and other stakeholders.
• Lead and manage matters independently while working closely with Partners.
• Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior associates and trainees.
• Assist in business development initiatives, proposals, credentials, client presentations, seminars, and thought leadership projects.
• Contribute to the development of practice precedents, templates, and knowledge management resources.
