Qualifications

• Proven experience as Pattern Designer or Illustrator in the fashion or textile industry.
• Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Procreate or specialist pattern design applications
• Excellent hand-drawing and sketching skills with the ability to visualise concepts rapidly
• Demonstrated portfolio showcasing original pattern designs and textile illustrations

About the role

Harumi Kartini Studio is seeking a talented Pattern Designer & Illustrator to join our creative team on a full-time basis. This is a key position focusing on Fashion & Textile Design. Based in West Jakarta, this role is essential to bringing our creative vision to life through innovative pattern development and compelling visual illustrations. You will play a crucial part in establishing the aesthetic direction of our collections and communicating design concepts to stakeholders and production teams.

Key responsibilities

Develop original pattern designs for textile and fashion applications, incorporating current trends and brand aesthetic

Create detailed technical illustrations and design sketches for collection development and communication

Collaborate with design teams to conceptualise and refine patterns and visual concepts

Research design trends, colour palettes and textile innovations to inform creative direction

Translate design briefs and creative concepts into tangible pattern and illustration outcomes

Prepare design presentations and mood boards for internal reviews and client consultations

Ensure all patterns and illustrations align with brand guidelines and quality standards

Work with production teams to ensure designs translate effectively into final products

What we're looking for

Proven experience working as a Pattern Designer and/or Illustrator in the fashion or textile industry

Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Procreate or specialist pattern design applications

Excellent hand-drawing and sketching skills with the ability to visualise concepts rapidly

Demonstrated portfolio showcasing original pattern designs and textile illustrations

Solid understanding of textile properties, print techniques and fabric behaviour

Strong colour theory knowledge and the ability to develop compelling colour palettes

Excellent attention to detail and precision in technical specifications

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a creative team environment

Understanding of fashion trends, design history and cultural influences in textile design

Experience with trend forecasting and market research is advantageous

Familiarity with Indonesian design aesthetics or cultural textiles is a plus
