Job summary

PT Royal Lestari Utama (RLU) in Jambi seeks an experienced in-house Legal Counsel to manage all legal matters at the site, including dispute resolution, contract review, drafting, and providing legal advice across departments.

You will support Operations, Land Acquisition, HSE, Sustainability, HR, and external relations, handle litigation and regulatory compliance, and maintain strong relationships with authorities while upholding integrity.

Qualifications

• Min. Bachelor's Degree in Law (S.H.)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in forestry, plantation, agribusiness, mining, or natural resources industry
• Strong knowledge of Indonesian laws and regulations including forestry, environmental, land, civil, criminal, labor, and anti-corruption
• Proven experience in handling litigation, land disputes, regulatory compliance, contract management, and legal risk mitigation
• Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and legal drafting skills
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical, business-oriented legal solutions while maintaining compliance
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrates high integrity, professionalism, and a strong compliance mindset
• Self-driven, resilient, and able to perform in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Good command of written and spoken English is preferred
• Willing to be placed on Site Tebo, Jambi - regular, on-site housing provided on site

Responsibilities

• Manage all legal matters at the Jambi site, including dispute resolution, litigation, legal drafting, contract review, and providing legal advice to all departments and business units
• Provide legal support to all functions at the site, including Operations/Development, Land Acquisition, HSE & Security, Sustainability & Conservation, Social Impact & External Relations, and HR/People Services
• Handle litigation, mediation, and other ADR processes related to land, social, civil, and criminal matters
• Represent and coordinate with external legal counsels when necessary for effective case management
• Establish and maintain relationships with local/regional law enforcement authorities and relevant government agencies in Jambi
