Job summary

Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) is seeking a seasoned engineer to drive estate mechanization implementation and continuous improvement across PSM. You will monitor performance, identify gaps, and provide technical guidance to PMC and Operations, ensuring standards are followed and improvements are realized.

The role requires hands-on experience with field machinery, data-driven decision making, and the ability to travel extensively to remote estate sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years in the oil palm industry with mechanization/operational excellence experience.
• Strong understanding of palm oil estate operations and machinery.
• Experience in machine commissioning, field trials, SOPs for wide-scale rollout.
• Proficiency in data-driven decision making using dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate mechanization performance via the Mechanization Dashboard and KPIs.
• Identify performance gaps and ensure corrective actions.
• Coordinate with PMC to address root causes and drive improvements.
• Conduct periodic field visits, inspections, and maturity assessments.
• Provide technical coaching on mechanization standards to PMC and Operations.
• Share best practices and facilitate cross-estate learning.

Job Description Summary:

To drive the effective implementation and continuous improvement of estate mechanization by monitoring performance, identifying and resolving performance gaps, ensuring compliance with mechanization standards, and providing technical guidance to PMC and Operations. The role contributes to improving mechanization effectiveness, reliability, and operational performance across PSM through technical assessment, corrective actions, and the sharing of best practices.

Job Description:

• Monitor & evaluation mechanization performance through the Mechanization Dashboard, including output, utilization, availability, downtime, breakdown, improvement program and other KPIs.
• Identify performance gaps and deviation from approved standards and targets.
• Coordinate with PMC to identify root causes and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Conduct periodic field technical visits, inspections and maturity assessments.
• Provide technical coaching and re-socialization of mechanization standards to PMC and Operations.
• Facilitate sharing of best practices and successful solutions across PSMs.
• Escalate unresolved technical and implementation issues to Head of Estate Mechanization.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or other fields relevant.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the oil palm industry, with proven involvement in leading or executing agricultural mechanization, field machinery rollout, or operational excellence initiatives.
• Strong hands-on understanding of palm oil estate agronomy, field conditions (topography, soil types), and machinery operations (harvesting, evacuation, manuring, maintenance).
• Proven experience in machine commissioning, field trials/piloting, operational stabilization, and standardizing SOPs for wide-scale rollout.
• Solid capability in equipment maintenance fundamentals, fleet utilization, and downtime management.
• Proficiency in data-driven decision making using operational dashboards to track and analyze mechanization KPIs (Machine Utilization, Cost/ha, Availability, Labour Productivity, and ROI).
• Proven track record in driving operational change management and technology adoption across estates, with the ability to build field capabilities, train local teams, and align PSM/PMC coordinators.
• Exceptional interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills to coordinate effectively from top operational management to estate managers and field-level operators.
• High ownership, results- and impact-driven, with strong continuous improvement and problem-solving mindsets.
• Willingness to travel extensively to remote estate sites and plantation operational areas.
