Role Summary

The Mechanics Trainer Associate supports the development of mechanic capability through structured technical and practical training. The role helps ensure mechanics understand and consistently apply repair, maintenance, diagnostic, safety, quality, and service procedures in accordance with Electrum standards.

Working closely with operational, technical, and workshop stakeholders, the Mechanics Trainer Associate delivers training sessions, supports competency assessments, identifies skill gaps, and provides coaching to help improve workshop performance and service quality.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
  • Deliver classroom, technical, and hands-on practical training for mechanics and relevant operational personnel.
  • Explain and demonstrate standard procedures for inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and quality checks.
  • Support onboarding and technical induction training for newly hired mechanics.
  • Adapt training delivery to learners' experience levels while maintaining technical and safety standards.
  • Facilitate refresher sessions when procedures, products, tools, or technical requirements change.
Training Materials and Documentation
  • Prepare, maintain, and improve training materials, practical exercises, job aids, checklists, and assessment tools.
  • Ensure training content reflects approved SOPs, safety requirements, quality standards, and technical updates.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, completion, assessment, and competency records.
  • Document trainee performance, recurring knowledge gaps, improvement actions, and training feedback.
Assessment and Coaching
  • Conduct or support written, verbal, and practical competency assessments.
  • Observe mechanics during practical work to evaluate procedural compliance, technical capability, tool usage, safety practices, and work quality.
  • Provide constructive coaching and follow-up support to trainees and mechanics requiring improvement.
  • Escalate material competency, safety, or quality concerns to the appropriate manager or technical stakeholder.
  • Recommend individual or team development actions based on assessment results and operational needs.
Operational and Cross-Functional Support
  • Coordinate with workshop, technical, quality, and operational teams to identify training needs and priorities.
  • Support implementation of new processes, tools, products, service standards, and technical updates.
  • Gather feedback to improve the relevance and effectiveness of training.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve repair quality, consistency, productivity, customer service, and safety performance.
Qualifications
  • Diploma, vocational, or bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Technical Education, or a related field; equivalent relevant practical experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of mechanical inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair processes.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable conducting practical demonstrations and observing work in a workshop or field-operational environment.
  • Able to prepare structured training materials and maintain accurate training documentation.
  • Good problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficient in basic workplace productivity tools, including presentations and spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
  • Experience as a mechanic, senior mechanic, technician, technical trainer, workshop supervisor, or in a comparable technical role.
  • Experience delivering technical, operational, vocational, or hands-on skills training.
  • Familiarity with motorcycle, automotive, electric-vehicle, battery, or related service operations.
  • Experience using competency frameworks, practical assessments, coaching plans, or training-performance reports.
  • Knowledge of workshop safety, quality assurance, tool control, and maintenance SOPs.
  • Relevant technical, safety, trainer, or assessor certification is preferred.
