Job summary

SOECHI GROUP is seeking an experienced Marine Manager to lead safe, compliant fleet operations and coordinate with charterers, regulators, and internal teams. You will drive safety, performance, and continuous improvement across the vessels, ensuring alignment with ISM/ISPS, MARPOL, and applicable rules.

The role requires strong leadership, deep maritime knowledge, and proven experience in oil, chemical, or tanker operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in maritime studies or nautical discipline.
  • Master Mariner Class I CoC.
  • Extensive seafaring and shore-based marine management experience.
  • Proven experience with SIRE, PSC, ISM/ISPS audits.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee navigational, cargo, and voyage operations for assigned vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL and classification society requirements.
  • Support Masters during vetting inspections and external audits.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and promote safety culture.
  • Provide operational guidance to Masters and onboard teams.

Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Marine Manager to lead and oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our fleet. This role is responsible for ensuring vessels operate in accordance with international maritime regulations, industry best practices, and company standards while supporting commercial performance and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between vessel management, charterers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to drive safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the fleet.

Key Responsibiliti es:
Marine Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee navigational, cargo, and voyage operations of assigned vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations including ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, Flag State, and Classification Society requirements.
  • Monitor vessel certifications and statutory documentation to ensure validity and compliance.
  • Support Masters during vetting inspections, SIRE inspections, PSC inspections, and external audits.
  • Serve as Company Security Officer (CSO) when required.
Safety, Security & Risk Management
  • Maintain and enhance the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Conduct vessel audits, safety inspections, and security assessments.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the fleet.
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Fleet Performance & Operational Support
  • Monitor voyage efficiency, navigational performance, and cargo operations.
  • Provide operational guidance and support to vessel Masters and onboard management teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical, Fleet, Operations, and Crewing Departments.
  • Ensure vessel maintenance programs support safe and efficient operations.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, vessel owners, auditors, classification societies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide operational updates and assurance regarding vessel safety and compliance status.
  • Support commercial and operational objectives by ensuring reliable vessel performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop deck officers and marine personnel.
  • Review crew competency assessments and performance appraisals.
  • Recommend training, promotions, and career development plans for marine staff.
  • Support continuous improvement of onboard operational standards and safety awareness.
  • Monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Drive initiatives to improve safety, security, operational efficiency, and environmental performance.
  • Support internal audits and company-wide improvement programs.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related discipline.
  • Valid Master Mariner Class I Certificate of Competency (COC Class I).
Experience
  • Previous sailing experience as Master Mariner or Chief Officer on commercial vessels, preferably oil, chemical, gas, or other specialized vessels.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Marine Superintendent or equivalent shore-based marine management role.
  • Proven experience managing oil and gas vessels is required.
  • Proven experience with SIRE inspections, PSC inspections, ISM/ISPS compliance, maritime audits, and vessel operational assurance.
  • Exposure to TMSA (Tanker Management and Self Assessment) requirements and practices.
  • Candidates with previous experience as a Marine Manager are highly preferred / will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel operations, navigation, cargo operations, and maritime regulations.
  • Sound understanding of risk management, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and marine assurance.
  • Familiarity with TMSA and tanker industry standards.
  • Strong experience in managing and supporting oil and gas vessel operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
