Job summary

PT Ocean Star Chemical Indonesia in Tangerang, Banten, seeks a Mandarin Interpreter on a contract basis to bridge communications between international operations and Chinese-speaking stakeholders within manufacturing and logistics.

You will provide accurate interpretation during meetings, review technical documents, and support site visits, while maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Proven interpreting experience in manufacturing or logistics.
• Fluent Mandarin and English with strong listening and verbal skills.
• Ability to understand and translate technical terminology used in chemical manufacturing and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely interpretation services in Mandarin Chinese during meetings, negotiations, and operational discussions
• Facilitate communication between PT Ocean Star Chemical Indonesia staff and Chinese-speaking clients, partners, and suppliers
• Interpret technical documentation, specifications, and compliance materials related to chemical manufacturing and logistics
• Support site visits, inspections, and facility tours involving Mandarin-speaking parties
• Assist with the translation of key operational and commercial communications as required
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpretation assignments
• Ensure cultural sensitivity and clarity in all cross-language communications

About the role
PT Ocean Star Chemical Indonesia is seeking a skilled Mandarin Interpreter to join our team on a contract basis. This role is based in Tangerang, Banten and plays a vital part in facilitating effective communication between our international operations and Chinese-speaking stakeholders. As a Mandarin Interpreter, you will serve as a critical bridge in our manufacturing and logistics operations, ensuring seamless dialogue across language barriers and supporting the strategic objectives of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

Provide accurate and timely interpretation services in Mandarin Chinese during meetings, negotiations, and operational discussions

Facilitate communication between PT Ocean Star Chemical Indonesia staff and Chinese-speaking clients, partners, and suppliers

Interpret technical documentation, specifications, and compliance materials related to chemical manufacturing and logistics

Support site visits, inspections, and facility tours involving Mandarin-speaking parties

Assist with the translation of key operational and commercial communications as required

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpretation assignments

Ensure cultural sensitivity and clarity in all cross-language communications

What we're looking for

Fluent proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, with native or near-native proficiency in at least one language

Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in manufacturing, logistics, or chemical industries

Strong understanding of technical terminology related to chemical manufacturing, transport, and logistics

Excellent listening, comprehension, and verbal communication skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple interpretation assignments simultaneously

Professional demeanour and strong interpersonal skills

Cultural awareness and sensitivity in international business environments

Flexibility to accommodate scheduling needs and travel within the region as required
