Job summary

Leighton Asia in Indonesia seeks an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the project commercial function on large-scale construction programs. You will oversee financial reporting, cost control, and contract administration across civil, building, and tunnelling works.

You will provide inputs to the supervisor, guide project teams on revenues and costs, evaluate deviations, and help secure timely payments from clients while coordinating with lenders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commercial or relevant field.
• Total work experience of 10+ years in commercial management of projects.
• Experience across civil, building, tunnelling construction domains.
• Willing to be placed at project location and follow company rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide inputs to supervisor on commercial aspects of the project management program.
• Define guidelines for financial reporting and ensure adherence ongoing.
• Guide teams on analyzing project revenues and costs against forecasts.
• Evaluate options for deviations from the plan in consultation with supervisor.
• Advise and support project teams on corrective action.
• Assist external audit teams with documentation and support.
• Evaluate risks and opportunities identified by project teams with supervisor.
• Perform valuations of financial impacts of risks/opportunities.
• Adjust project costs for tendering and execution.
• Advise on mitigating risks and leveraging opportunities.
• Oversee payments collection from clients; liaise with supervisors for issues.
• Liaison with financial institutions for timely payments to suppliers/sub-contractors.
• Monitor cash flows against forecasts; take corrective actions as needed.

• Total work experience: 10++ years in experience in managing the commercial department of projects of similar size/complexity
• Project management knowledge across construction projects in multiple domains viz. civil, building, tunnelling (preferable)

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide inputs to supervisor on commercial aspects of the project management program
• Define documentation guidelines for financial reporting on the project; Oversee adherence to the same on an on-going basis
• Guide subordinates on analysing project revenues and direct/indirect costs against forecasts
• Evaluate options for addressing significant deviations from the plan in consultation with supervisor
• Advise and support relevant project teams on corrective action
• Provide necessary support with respect to documentation, etc. to external audit teams
• Evaluate risks and opportunities identified by the project teams in consultation with supervisor
• Perform valuations with respect to the potential financial impact of key risks/opportunities
• Adjust project costs to reflect the same for tendering as well as during project execution
• Advise and support relevant project teams on mitigating risks and leveraging opportunities
• Oversee and direct team on collecting payments from clients in a timely manner; seek support from supervisor in case of any issue
• Liaison with financial institutions for timely payment to suppliers and sub-contractors
• Monitor project cash flows against forecasts on an on-going basis
• Guide subordinates or relevant project teams on taking corrective action for any deviations from forecast
• Raise unresolved issues to supervisor in a timely manner for subsequent planning and resolution
• Create procurement strategy for the project in conjunction with supervisor
• Review and approve procurement schedules created by subordinate
• Guide subordinate on evaluation of sub-contractors, preparation of contracts and monitoring of sub-contractor performance
• Monitor critical sub-contracted work as directed by supervisor
