Job summary

PT ESSA Industries Indonesia Tbk is seeking a Maintenance Head to lead the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance function for the Banggai Ammonia Plant in Sulawesi Tengah. You will drive reliability programs, manage budgets, and steer capital and preventive initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 20+ years in plant maintenance, ammonia experience, and strong leadership with expertise in CMMS and I&C systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Engineering.
• 20+ years of plant maintenance experience with leadership background.
• Experience in ammonia plants or similar facilities.
• Expertise in preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of Instrumentation & Control Systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA, ITCC, MMS).
• Experience in maintenance budgeting, contractor management, and resource planning.

• Lead maintenance team and contractors to ensure safe, reliable plant operations.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies, objectives, and targets.
• Oversee preventive, corrective, predictive, and planned maintenance activities.
• Manage planning during normal operations, startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
• Monitor preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis for recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure availability of critical spares, tools, and maintenance resources.

Join our plant leadership team and take a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all plant equipment, assets, and facilities. As Maintenance Head, you will lead the maintenance function (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation), develop effective maintenance strategies, manage plant reliability programs, and drive continuous improvement to support safe and sustainable plant operations.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in plant maintenance, including significant experience in a managerial or leadership position.
• Has experience working in Ammonia plant for similar role.
• Expertise in all Maintenance area including Mechanical, Electrical dan Instrumentation
• Proven expertise in preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs.
• Strong knowledge of Instrumentation & Control Systems (DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA, ITCC, MMS).
• Experienced in managing plant shutdowns, start-ups, turnarounds, equipment reliability, and critical spare parts.
• Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, risk assessment, maintenance planning, and reliability improvement.
• Good understanding of HSE standards, SMK3, environmental management systems, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Experienced in maintenance budgeting, cost control, contractor management, and resource planning.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in maintenance management systems or CMMS, engineering documentation, and performance reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the maintenance team and contractors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
• Develop and implement plant maintenance strategies, objectives, performance targets, and improvement plans aligned with company goals.
• Oversee preventive, corrective, predictive, and planned maintenance activities for plant equipment, assets, and facilities.
• Manage maintenance planning and execution during normal operations, plant start-ups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
• Develop and monitor Planned Preventive Maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis for recurring equipment failures and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure the availability and proper management of critical spare parts, tools, materials, and maintenance resources.
• Develop and control the maintenance budget while identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or reliability.
• Evaluate and recommend equipment modifications, upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, SMK3, environmental management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Lead maintenance-related risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and other stakeholders to align maintenance activities with operational priorities.
• Develop the technical capabilities and competencies of maintenance personnel through coaching, training, and performance management.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, engineering documentation, performance reports, and compliance data.
• Report maintenance performance, target achievements, key risks, lessons learned, and improvement recommendations to senior management.
