The Library Assistant provides essential support for the daily operational running of the school library. This role ensures a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for students and staff, handling daily circulation tasks, basic administrative support, and physical & digital maintenance of library materials to support the smooth function of the IB learning resource center.
Execute the daily operations of the library, including circulation (check-in/out), shelving, and maintaining an organized, conducive learning environment.
Manage the systematic cataloguing of all physical and digital resources. Ensure the library management system (LMS) is accurate and up-to-date.
Monitor the condition of library materials, oversee the procurement of new resources, and manage regular collection maintenance to ensure all references remain relevant and in good condition.
Maintain accurate cataloguing, circulation, and inventory systems.
Assist and collaborate with the Teacher Librarian in organizing and preparing resources for inquiry-based lessons, reading events/ programs, book talks, and English literacy events/ activities.
Ensure the library space is versatile and ready for various uses, such as independent study, collaborative group work, or residential activities.
Maintain accurate records of library operations (including library usage statistics, inventory audits, and loss/damage), reading programs, and student support activities.
Enforce library policies regarding academic integrity and appropriate behavior within the facility.
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in library administration or archival work, preferably in an educational setting.
Proficiency in Library Management Systems (LMS), digital databases, and office productivity tools (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace).
Good command of English (both written and spoken) to assist in a bilingual environment.
Strong attention to detail in filing, archiving, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teaching staff, and residential assistants.
