Job summary

OCBC Indonesia is seeking a Legal Advisor to support banking and corporate deals from Jakarta. You will read agreements, flag critical issues, and guide the business on appropriate actions.

You’ll draft and negotiate contracts tailored to non-standard needs and join negotiations when required to influence outcomes. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, ensuring timely, practical legal opinions are delivered and documented.

Qualifications

• Law degree required and fluent in English for drafting and negotiations.
• 2+ years of banking or corporate legal work.
• Ability to draft contracts from scratch and review complex terms.
• Strong communication and collaboration with business teams.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, finish-what-you-start mindset.

Responsibilities

• Read agreements, flag material issues, and advise the business on actions.
• Draft and negotiate non-standard contracts as required.
• Participate in meetings and negotiations as needed to shape deal outcomes.
• Monitor external counsel, notaries, and consultants for deliverables and quality.
• Ensure legal opinions land and are usable, with clear follow-through.
• Maintain tidy SLAs, documentation, and processes for continuity.

How You Succeed:

Forget the image of a lawyer locked in a room with a stack of contracts. Here, you'll be in the room. In the negotiation. In the meeting where the business is pushing hard and someone needs to say, "Hey, let's think about this clause." You succeed when the business trusts you fast enough to call you before the problem happens not after. Practical. Clear. A little bit of business brain behind the legal brain.

What You Do:

• Read agreements, flag what matters, and tell the business what to do about it, not just what's wrong
• Draft and negotiate non-standard contracts when the business needs something off-the-shelf won't cut it
• Sit in on meetings, negotiations, and third-party discussions sometimes as the quiet voice, sometimes as the one who stops the deal before it stops being good
• Keep an eye on the law firms, notaries, and consultants we work with. Are they delivering? You'll tell us.
• Follow up. Because a legal opinion that sits in an inbox isn't really a legal opinion. Make sure it lands, gets used, and sticks.
• Keep our SLAs, documentation, and processes tidy so the next person doesn't have to dig through chaos

Who You Are:

• You studied Law (S1) and have at least 2 years in banking legal or corporate legal work
• You write and read English really well. Drafting, reviewing, arguing a point in a contract. You're comfortable in both languages
• You can build a contract from scratch, not just redline someone else's
• You're the kind of person who finishes the job. You follow through. You don't leave things half-answered
• You're collaborative by default. You want the business to say "thank you" more than "no"
