Job summary

Hatch in Jakarta, Indonesia seeks an entry-level Mining Engineer/Geologist to support mining studies and project work. The role offers hands-on experience across data collection, design, and reporting, with mentorship from senior engineers.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on site, perform calculations, generate drawings and technical documents, and contribute to safe, compliant project delivery in a global mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining or Geology.
• 0–4 years in mining, with consultory exposure preferred.
• Experience in underground or surface mining (coal or minerals) preferred.
• Certifications such as JORC, SNI, POP are an advantage.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD and Rocscience; modeling experience not required but welcomed.
• Fluent English written and spoken.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work on site.
• Indonesian nationality.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Mining Engineers in mining studies, technical assessments, project work, and proposal prep.
• Provide technical/engineering support to local and global mining projects: data collection, validation, drafting, design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during study phases and project execution.
• Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical evaluations under senior guidance.
• Prepare drawings, technical reports, presentations, and project documentation per standards.
• Ensure work complies with specifications, quality, and safety requirements.
• Participate in site visits, field inspections, and operational reviews to gain practical experience.
• Prepare and submit progress reports and other project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Senior Mining Engineers in the delivery of mining studies, technical assessments, project work, and proposal preparation.
• Provide technical and engineering support to local and global mining projects, including data collection, data validation, drafting, and design activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and other stakeholders, during study phases and project execution.
• Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical evaluations under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Prepare drawings, technical reports, presentations, and project documentation in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
• Ensure assigned work is completed in compliance with project specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards
• Participate in site visits, field inspections, and operational reviews to support project activities and gain practical mining experience.
• Prepare and submit progress reports, technical documentation, and other project deliverables as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining or Geology
• Minimum of 0-4 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably with exposure to geo-mine engineering or mine operations and preferably with 1 or 2 years consultancy type of work.
• Preferably to have experience in underground mining or Surface mining either coal or minerals.
• Demonstrated mining engineering expertise, with professional certifications such as JORC, SNI, and POP considered an advantage.
• Proficiency in mining software packages such as Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, and Rocscience. Experience in geological, geotechnical, or mine design modeling is considered an advantage.
• Fluent in writing and speaking English.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work on site.
• Indonesian nationality.
