Job summary

World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia is seeking a Consultant Senior Economist to lead economic analysis for the Energy and Sustainable Business program. Based in Jakarta with hybrid work, you will advance decarbonization policy through rigorous modelling and cross-stakeholder collaboration.

You will develop evidence-based insights, contribute to policy packages for Indonesia's net zero ambitions, and deliver knowledge products to government, industry, and international partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics or related field; Doctorate advantageous.
• 7+ years of relevant work in applied economic research and policy analysis.
• Proficiency in econometrics and economy-wide/sectoral modelling; use of R, Python, Stata, GAMS.
• Strong knowledge of carbon pricing design and Indonesia's NEK framework.
• Familiarity with industrial sectors and trade policy (CBAM/EUDR) is a plus.
• Proven track record leading discrete research projects end to end.
• Excellent communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct economic analysis to support clean industry transition in Indonesia.
• Coordinate analysis to identify barriers and market failures; engage industry stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy packages and macroeconomic impact models; ensure consistency of assumptions.
• Translate analytical results into policy reports, briefs, and communication products.
• Provide strategic support and technical input; mentor junior colleagues.
