Job summary

World Resources Institute in Jakarta is seeking an experienced Heavy Industry Decarbonization Analyst to advance sector-specific decarbonization analyses, policy insights, and market readiness in Indonesia. You will work on cement, iron/steel, and chemicals sub-sectors, delivering robust research and policy guidance for government and industry.

Jakarta-based with hybrid office arrangement. The role requires strong quantitative skills, English and Bahasa proficiency, and the ability to translate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred/advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years in industrial decarbonization, process or production-related roles.
• Deep technical knowledge of at least one heavy industry sub-sector (cement, iron/steel, chemicals).
• Strong understanding of GHG accounting principles and carbon pricing mechanisms (Indonesia NEK/ETS).
• Proven ability to design quantitative analyses and build cost/scenario models.
• Experience engaging with government, industry, or associations on technical topics.
• Excellent written and oral communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; eligible to work in Indonesia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain emission baselines and production profiles for the assigned heavy industry sub-sector.
• Assess decarbonization options (energy efficiency, fuel switching, electrification, CCS, circularity) and their applicability.
• Build and run scenario/cost models under varying energy, carbon price, and policy assumptions.
• Analyze policy instruments, market creation tools, and climate-related trade measures for Indonesian context.
• Translate analyses into actionable policy recommendations and knowledge products.
• Collaborate with government, industry, and partner institutions to inform policies.
