Job summary

World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia is seeking a Research Analyst to support mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging. The role involves data collection, analysis, and drafting across three workstreams, plus stakeholder engagement and administrative support.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least four years in applied research or policy analysis, with strong quantitative and reporting skills. Hybrid work from Jakarta is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental science, economics, policy or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant research and policy analysis experience.
• Strong understanding of EPR, plastic pollution, and circular economy in Indonesia.
• Excellent data handling, Excel modelling, and basic R/Python/Stata skills preferred.
• Experience with GEDSI concepts recommended.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews, policy and regulatory analysis on EPR for packaging and related topics.
• Collect, clean, and manage data on packaging placed on the market, waste generation, and costs.
• Develop and run spreadsheet models and scenario calculations for EPR costs and emissions.
• Map value chains and support data collection tools and fieldwork.
• Draft sections for three technical knowledge products and communicate findings clearly.
• Coordinate stakeholder consultations and prepare background materials.
• Support policy briefs, slide decks, blogs, and donor reporting.
