Job description

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator is the lead administrator and pedagogical expert responsible for the successful preparation, implementation, management, and development of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme within the school. This role is crucial in ensuring that the DP adheres to the rigorous standards and philosophical underpinnings of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The IB DP Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the IBO, the school's administration, teachers, students, and parents, fostering a cohesive and high-quality learning environment that prepares students for global challenges and university success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous review of the IB Diploma Programme in accordance with IBO standards and practices.
• Ensure compliance with all IBO requirements for authorization, evaluation, and ongoing program maintenance.
• Act as the primary contact person for the IBO, managing all communication, documentation, and submissions (e.g., student registration, assessment entries, IBIS data management).
• Oversee the academic integrity of the DP, ensuring fair and consistent assessment practices aligned with IBO guidelines.
• Coordinate the development and vertical as well as horizontal alignment of the DP curriculum across all subject areas, promoting interdisciplinary connections where appropriate.
• Collaborate with other school leaders to propose, draft, and revise school-wide academic and administrative policies.
• Ensure all school policies (e.g., Admissions, Language, Inclusion, and Assessment policies) are updated annually to reflect current IBO requirements and global best practices.
• Provide comprehensive guidance and support to DP students on programme requirements, subject choices, assessment deadlines, and academic integrity policies (e.g., academic honesty).
• Monitor programs and student progress in all DP components (e.g., Internal Assessments (IAs), Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)).
• Collaborate with university guidance counselors to ensure DP students are well-prepared for university applications and pathways.
• Provide ongoing professional development and support for DP teachers on IB philosophy, curriculum, assessment, and best pedagogical practices.
• Facilitate collaborative planning and moderation meetings among DP subject teachers.
• Ensure teachers are aware of and adhere to IBO assessment criteria and internal moderation procedures.
• Support teachers in managing Internal Assessments (IAs), ensuring deadlines are met and IBO requirements are followed.
• Liaise with the IBO for teacher training opportunities and communicate relevant updates to the faculty.
• Manage all administrative tasks related to the DP, including student registration, examination entries, result dissemination, and record-keeping.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the DP, including handbooks for students and parents.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and school leadership regarding all aspects of the DP.
• Prepare reports on DP performance, enrollment trends, and program development for school leadership and the School Board.
• Manage the DP budget in coordination with the Head of School/Principal.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Education or a relevant discipline; a Master’s Degree (S2) is preferred.
• Mandatory certification from official IB-approved professional development workshops.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an IBDP Coordinator or in an academic leadership role within an International IB World School.
• Proven track record as an IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) educator.
• Direct experience managing the IB Authorization & Evaluation cycle.
• In-depth understanding of IBDP standards, assessment criteria, curriculum, and overall philosophy.
• Proven ability to lead the development and review of school policies (Assessment, Inclusion, Language, and Admissions Policies).
• Expertise in curriculum alignment (vertical & horizontal alignment) and facilitating interdisciplinary learning.
