Responsibilities include:

  • Perform and/or review hydrological assessments for mining infrastructure, including mine sites, haul roads, access roads, camps, stockpiles, processing facilities, and other supporting infrastructure.
  • Conduct catchment analysis to identify contributing catchment areas, drainage paths, flow characteristics, and potential areas of flooding or water accumulation.
  • Assess rainwater runoff from natural and developed catchments and determine peak flow rates, runoff volumes, and appropriate design criteria.
  • Undertake rainfall analysis, including selection of appropriate design rainfall intensity, duration and frequency (IDF) and relevant return periods.
  • Develop and review hydrological models and calculations for stormwater, surface water drainage, flood management, culverts, channels, diversion drains, detention ponds, and other water management facilities.
  • Review and assess drainage strategies to manage runoff from mining areas and surrounding catchments, minimizing the risk of flooding, erosion, sedimentation, and damage to infrastructure.
  • Provide technical input into the sizing and design review of culverts, open channels, drains, diversion structures, retention/detention ponds, spillways, and stormwater management systems.
  • Review engineering deliverables, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical submissions prepared by EPC contractors, design consultants, and other project parties.
  • Provide hydrology input to the design of roads, bridges, culverts, crossings, earthworks, and other mining infrastructure.
  • Review the impact of changes in land use, topography, mine development, and infrastructure layout on catchment characteristics and rainwater runoff.
  • Identify potential hydrological risks and recommend mitigation measures during design, construction, and operation.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, Water Resources, Mining, and Infrastructure Engineers to develop integrated water management solutions.
  • Support PMC technical reviews, design coordination meetings, constructability reviews, and technical queries related to hydrology and drainage.
  • Review contractor methodologies and proposals related to stormwater management, drainage, flood protection, and erosion control.
  • Ensure hydrological designs comply with applicable Indonesian regulations, project standards, international standards, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical support during construction and respond to site-related hydrology and drainage issues as required.
  • Able to investigate & propose muddy river water issue from runoff
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 8–12+ years of relevant experience in hydrology, water resources, drainage, or civil infrastructure engineering.
  • Previous experience in mining, mining infrastructure, heavy industry, or large infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience working on PMC, EPCM, EPC, or Owner’s Engineer projects is preferred.
  • Strong experience in catchment assessment, rainfall analysis, stormwater management, and rainwater runoff calculations.
  • Proven experience in hydrological and hydraulic analysis for culverts, channels, drainage systems, flood management, and water diversion structures.
  • Experience with hydrological/hydraulic modelling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, MIKE, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Good understanding of rainfall-runoff modelling, peak flow estimation, flood frequency analysis, IDF curves, catchment delineation, and flood risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS for catchment delineation and spatial analysis is advantageous.
  • Understanding of erosion, sedimentation, and stormwater management associated with mining and large-scale earthworks.
  • Ability to review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
