Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced Hydropower Development Manager to identify, evaluate, and develop hydroelectric power projects across Indonesia, from early-stage assessment through to investment approval.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, conduct site screening and hydrological studies, manage pre-feasibility through bankable feasibility studies, and coordinate with consultants, government agencies, and stakeholders to move projects toward investment approval.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Hydrology, Geology or Renewable Energy.
• 8–15 years in hydropower development or related fields.
• Experience conducting hydrological assessments and feasibility studies.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate hydropower opportunities across Indonesia.
• Lead site screening, resource assessment, and hydrology studies.
• Manage pre-feasibility to bankable feasibility studies.
• Coordinate consultants including hydrologists, geologists, env specialists, and engineers.
• Develop concepts, energy yield, configurations, and implementation plans.
• Assess risks across technical, environmental, permitting, social, and commercial aspects.
• Support land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and approvals.
• Prepare business cases, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, financial models, and presentations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to advance projects through milestones and approvals.

Job Description

• Identify and evaluate potential hydropower project opportunities across Indonesia.
• Conduct site screening and resource assessment based on hydrological, topographical, and environmental data.
• Lead hydrological studies to determine river flow characteristics, water availability, and power generation potential.
• Manage pre-feasibility, feasibility, and bankable feasibility studies for hydropower projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary consultants, including hydrologists, geologists, environmental specialists, and engineering teams.
• Develop project concepts, energy yield projections, technical configurations, and implementation strategies.
• Conduct project risk assessments covering technical, environmental, permitting, social, and commercial aspects.
• Support land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory approval processes.
• Prepare project business cases, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, financial models, and investment presentations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance projects through development milestones and investment approval stages.

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8-15 years of experience in hydropower development, renewable energy development, water resource planning, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience conducting or managing hydrological assessments and feasibility studies for hydroelectric projects.
• Strong understanding of river basin analysis, watershed management, hydrology modelling, and hydroelectric power generation.
• Experience working with engineering consultants, environmental specialists, and government agencies.
• Sound knowledge of project economics, financial evaluation, and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex development projects from concept through feasibility stage.
• Strong stakeholder management and project leadership capabilities.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
