Job summary

APRIL is seeking an HVAC Technician to install, operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems across our facilities. You will handle routine and preventive maintenance, diagnose faults in AHU, FCU, vents, and refrigeration equipment, and ensure safe, efficient operation.

You will monitor performance, document maintenance activities, read mechanical and electrical drawings, and contribute to commissioning and emergency response while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or SMK in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Relevant HVAC/Refrigeration certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems across facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AHU, FCU, ventilation, and related equipment.
  • Monitor system performance: temperature, pressure, airflow, refrigerant condition.
  • Read drawings and understand HVAC electrical/control components.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts.

Job description

Responsible for the installation, operation, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of air conditioning and ventilation systems across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning, ventilation, AHU, FCU, exhaust fans, and related equipment.
  • Monitor HVAC system performance, including temperature, pressure, airflow, refrigerant condition, and equipment operating parameters.
  • Conduct refrigerant charging, recovery, leak detection, and basic refrigeration system maintenance.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, pumps, fans, motors, and related components.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and control components associated with HVAC systems, including motors, contactors, relays, thermostats, sensors, and control panels.
  • Carry out cleaning and replacement of filters, coils, belts, bearings, and other HVAC components.
  • Support HVAC installation, modification, and commissioning activities.
  • Identify equipment abnormalities and recommend appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment conditions, spare parts, and work orders.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety procedures, maintenance standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with Operations and other maintenance teams during troubleshooting, shutdown, and maintenance activities.
  • Support emergency breakdown response and ensure HVAC systems are restored safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and workplace safety within the assigned area.

Job Specification
Education
  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or Vocational High School (SMK) in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant HVAC/Refrigeration certification is an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an HVAC Technician, Refrigeration Technician, or similar role.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, pulp & paper, power plant, or large commercial facilities is preferred.
  • Experience handling centralized HVAC systems, AHU, FCU, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, fans, motors, and related components.
  • Familiar with refrigerant charging, recovery, leak testing, and refrigeration system maintenance.
  • Good understanding of HVAC electrical and control systems.
  • Able to read mechanical, electrical, and HVAC drawings.
  • Familiar with preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Able to use basic HVAC diagnostic and measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of HVAC control systems, sensors, thermostats, and PLC/BMS is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with CMMS/SAP maintenance systems is an advantage.
Preferred Certifications
  • K3-related certification.
  • Electrical competency certification is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Safety-conscious and disciplined.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Proactive in identifying potential equipment problems.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Willing to work in shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to work in an industrial/mill environment.
  • Physically fit to perform field maintenance activities.
  • Willing to work at height and in confined/industrial areas when required, following applicable safety procedures.
  • Strong commitment to safety, discipline, and maintenance standards.
