Job summary

McDermott International in Batam is hiring a Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) Technician to support, evaluate, and implement HSES management systems in collaboration with advisors and supervisors.

You will apply knowledge of local and international laws, assist in incident investigations, conduct safety observations, and help run toolbox talks.

Ideal candidates hold a diploma, have 2–3 years of relevant experience, and are proficient with MS Office.

Job Description

Job Overview:

The HSES Tech provides solutions to problems in conjunction with HSE Advisors / Supervisors and will evaluate and select solutions from established HSES Management Systems.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations
  • Serve as a resource to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for incidents
  • Provide technical assistance to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state, and company environmental, safety, and health regulations
  • Implement the HSES activity plan and ensure activities are completed as scheduled
  • Assist with incident investigations and compilation of reports
  • Assist with medical evacuations and respond to emergencies as required
  • Regularly inspect the work areas to identify unsafe acts or conditions
  • Conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed
  • Observe work groups and provide guidance and coaching to personnel to perform work safely
  • Assist in the delivery and observation of toolbox talks and Job Safety Analyses (JSA's)
  • Observe the condition of plant and equipment and report deficiencies
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Diploma or equivalent certification
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
  • Have experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Exposure to incident investigation and analysis software preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
  • Ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline
  • Proven experience promoting teamwork, coaching, and guiding others
