Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an experienced Operator to operate and maintain production machinery, focusing on heat treatment and brazing. You will set up and monitor equipment, ensure quality, and assist in guiding junior operators.

This role suits experienced staff who work autonomously with supervision in non-routine situations. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with duties spanning process records, troubleshooting, and adherence to specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in heat treatment and brazing repair activities, preferably within aerospace, gas turbine, or precision manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of vacuum and atmospheric furnace equipment, heat treatment processes, and brazing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and repair procedures.
• Familiarity with surface preparation methods, masking techniques, grit blasting, and brazing & heat treatment quality requirements.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform brazing repairs on gas turbine components according to procedures and specs.
• Install honeycomb seals.
• Set up, operate, and monitor vacuum and atmospheric furnace systems per process parameters and instructions.
• Verify heat treatment and brazing parameters; perform in-process quality checks.
• Masking, grit blasting, surface prep, cleaning, and post-brazing activities as required.
• Review heat treatment and brazing specs before execution.
• Maintain accurate production and process records per quality management.
• Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement in heat treatment and brazing operations.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of components, materials, and consumables.
• Follow safety, health, environmental, and quality requirements for heat treatment and brazing.

About The Role

The Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining production machinery, ensuring efficient and safe operations. This role performs advanced machine setup, monitors production quality, and may assist in training junior operators.

This job profile is intended for experienced support-level staff that generally works autonomously and only requires closer supervision in non-routine situations.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Perform brazing repairs on gas turbine components in accordance with approved repair procedures and specifications.
• Install honeycomb seals
• Set up, operate, and monitor vacuum and atmospheric furnace systems in accordance with approved process parameters, work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Verify heat treatment and brazing process parameters and perform in-process checks to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
• Perform component masking, grit blasting, surface preparation, cleaning and post brazing activities as required.
• Review and understand heat treatment and brazing specifications prior to execution.
• Maintain accurate production and process records in accordance with quality management requirements.
• Support trouble shooting activities related to heat treatment and brazing operation and contribute to continuous improvement initiative
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of components, materials, and consumables.
• Follow all safety, health, environmental, and quality requirements related to heat treatment and brazing activities.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in heat treatment and brazing repair activities preferably within the aerospace, gas turbine, or precision manufacturing industry.
• Experience in gas turbine component repair is preferred and will be considered an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of vacuum furnace and atmospheric furnace equipment, heat treatment processes, and brazing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and repair procedures.
• Familiarity with surface preparation methods, masking techniques, grit blasting, and brazing & heat treatment quality requirements.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Valid forklift and overhead crane operation certification is an advantage
