Job summary

PLABS is hiring a Fullstack Engineer (Golang) in Bandung for on-site work. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in Go, build REST/gRPC APIs, and collaborate with frontend teams using Next.js and TypeScript. AI-powered features and vector search are part of the backend scope.

You’ll work with product managers and designers to refine requirements, ensure code quality, and ship reliable features while emphasizing security and performance.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of professional software development, backend-focused.
• Strong Golang proficiency or willingness to learn Go quickly.
• Experience designing REST/gRPC APIs and distributed systems.
• SQL database design, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Auth RBAC, caching (Redis), queues, and performance tuning.
• Frontend basics in Next.js, React, and TypeScript to ship features.
• Interest or experience in AI/LLM integrations (OpenAI API, LangChain).
• CI/CD, unit/integration testing, and clean code mindset.
• Ability to explain decisions and document work clearly.
• Strong problem-solving with a first-principles approach.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fullstack Engineer (Golang) role based in Bandung. The Fullstack Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications, focusing on backend services in Golang and front-end interfaces using modern web technologies. Daily responsibilities include implementing RESTful APIs, integrating databases, optimizing application performance, and ensuring code quality through testing and reviews. The role also involves collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to refine requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ship reliable features. Participation in technical discussions, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices is expected.

Responsibilities

• Backend Services & APIs: Design, build, and maintain Golang services and REST/gRPC APIs that are performant, secure, and well-tested.
• Data Architecture: Design and optimize Database schemas, queries, and indexes, owning migrations and data integrity as our systems grow.
• System Design & Scalability: Shape service boundaries, caching, background jobs, and messaging so our systems scale reliably.
• AI Implementation: Build the backend side of AI-powered features, including LLM integrations, streaming responses, RAG pipelines, and vector search.
• Fullstack Delivery: Ship features end to end, including Next.js (App Router), React, and TypeScript work when a feature calls for it.
• Reliability & Observability: Add logging, metrics, and tracing, and help debug and resolve production issues to keep services healthy.
• AI-Assisted Efficiency: Utilize AI coding tools to enhance speed and consistency while maintaining strict code quality and security reviews.
• Collaborative Communication: Actively engage with frontend engineers, UI/UX designers, and product owners to ensure APIs and features integrate seamlessly and stay aligned on requirements and delivery.
• Technical Documentation: Create clear technical designs and API documentation to support our growing team and partners.

Must-have Specification

• Experience: 2-5+ years of professional software development experience, most of it on the backend.
• Backend Expertise: Strong proficiency in Golang, or deep backend experience in another language with the willingness to become productive in Go quickly.
• API & System Design: Solid experience designing REST/gRPC APIs and service boundaries, with a good grasp of distributed systems fundamentals (concurrency, idempotency, retries).
• Database Mastery: Proficiency in SQL, schema design, indexing, transactions, and query performance tuning.
• System Thinking: Strong understanding of Auth (RBAC), caching strategies (Redis), message queues, and performance tuning.
• Frontend Fluency: Working knowledge of Next.js, React, and TypeScript - enough to ship features end to end.
• AI/ML Curiosity: Proven experience or a strong interest in AI/LLM implementations (OpenAI API, LangChain, Vector Databases like pgvector).
• Engineering Excellence: Experience with CI/CD, unit/integration testing, and a "clean code" mindset.
• Communication Excellence: The ability to explain "the why" behind technical decisions and a proactive approach to documentation and peer reviews.
• Problem-Solving: A "first principles" mindset - you enjoy deconstructing complex problems into elegant technical solutions.

Nice-to-have Specification

• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and managing deployments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Vercel.
• Event-Driven Systems: Experience with message brokers or event streaming such as Kafka, NATS, or Google Pub/Sub.
• Observability Tooling: Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Design Sensibility: Familiarity with TailwindCSS and shadcn/ui.
• Client Engagement: Readiness to participate in technical discussions with clients.
