Krom in Jakarta is seeking a Senior Backend Engineering Lead to direct an engineering team responsible for core features across platforms. You will own technical design, project estimation, and execution for large-scale services using Golang and modern cloud infrastructure.

You will partner with management to align work with company priorities, enforce best practices for high availability, and mentor engineers while shaping production reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related field.
• Extensive backend development experience with Go.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and high-throughput pipelines.
• Proficient in HTTP, RESTful APIs, OAuth, and security best practices.
• Experience with AWS/GCP and modern cloud architectures.

• Lead an engineering team in designing and building core features, functionalities, and digital product services across platforms.
• Partner with engineering management to align team workflows and deliverables with overarching organizational priorities.
• Drive and enforce software engineering best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable system architecture.
• Demonstrate strong ownership across all project phases—owning technical design, project estimation, and execution of complex technical solutions using appropriate technologies and infrastructure.
• Actively participate in monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing production systems to ensure uptime and performance.
• Manage team performance and identify growth opportunities to optimize capabilities and maximize engineering output.
• Actively participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring backend engineering team members.

About You:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Broad experience in core backend languages, with a strong willingness and capability to work extensively with Golang stack.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing, architecting, and executing distributed systems and high-throughput data processing pipelines, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal performance at scale.
• Proficient in HTTP protocols, Web Services, OAuth authentication, and RESTful API design.
• Deep understanding of Clean Architecture principles and hands-on experience with message brokers (e.g., AWS SQS, Apache Kafka).
• Proven ability to architect, optimize, and manage robust database designs (SQL/NoSQL).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure services (e.g., AWS, GCP).
• Strong communication skills with a proven track record of cross-functional collaboration.
• Highly proactive individual contributor with strong analytical skills, a continuous learning mindset, and a commitment to driving positive team culture and technical improvements.
• Minimum 4–6 years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and launching large-scale backend systems.
• Minimum 1 year of direct leadership or team management experience.
