Job summary

Pointe Russe Ltd. is seeking a Footwear Technician to assist in the design, development and production of footwear. You will support designers, develop patterns and prototypes, and help manage materials and production processes to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

You will evaluate materials, contribute to construction methods, perform prototype testing, and support R&D to drive sustainable and innovative footwear solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or certification in footwear design, engineering or related field preferred.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and AutoCAD; 3D modeling tools advantageous.
• Strong understanding of materials, construction methods and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in English.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of sustainability and eco-friendly practices in footwear industry is a plus.

The responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of the final product, making sure it meets industry standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Footwear Design Support:

Collaborate with footwear designers to understand design concepts and assist in the development of technical drawings and specifications.

Create and modify patterns and prototypes to match the design intent.

Contribute ideas for material selection, construction methods, and aesthetic details.

Materials and Components Management:

Procure, track, and manage materials and components used in footwear production.

Evaluate and select appropriate materials, considering factors like durability, cost, and performance.

Maintain relationships with suppliers and stay updated on industry trends and innovations.

Prototype Development:

Construct prototypes and samples based on design specifications.

Ensure prototypes meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments to improve fit, comfort, and aesthetics.

Perform testing and evaluate the performance of prototypes.

Quality Control:

Inspect finished footwear products to identify defects or irregularities.

Implement quality control processes to meet industry standards and customer expectations.

Communicate findings and suggest improvements to the production team.

Production Process Oversight:

Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes.

Ensure consistency in product quality and help identify and resolve production issues.

Support the implementation of efficient and cost-effective production methods.

Research and Development:

Stay updated on the latest advancements in footwear technology and materials.

Conduct research to identify new trends and innovations in the footwear industry.

Work on developing new products or improving existing ones.

Scheduling training sessions and refresher workshops as required

Production of documentation including products manuals

Documentation:

Maintain detailed records of materials, designs, prototypes, and production processes.

Create technical documentation, such as specifications and instructions for production teams.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A degree or certification in footwear design, engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD) and 3D modeling tools – advantage

Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes.
