Job summary

Pengiklan Anonim is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer / Fleet Technical Superintendent to lead maintenance across the tanker fleet. You will oversee budgeting, survey scheduling, and ensure vessels stay within class and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates will have a maritime studies degree with COC Class 1 Marine Engineer credentials, plus a strong track record in dry-dock and reliability improvements. English proficiency is essential for coordinating global operations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in maritime studies or equivalent with COC Class 1 Marine Engineer (ATT-1).
  • Proven track record as Chief Engineer on tanker vessels; superintendent experience preferred.
  • Experience in dry-dock management, budgeting, and vessel surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, and on-board assessments.
  • Ensure vessels remain technically operational per management agreements (budget, utilization).
  • Attend dry docking, repairs and surveys; define repair specifications for dry docking.
  • Identify maintenance needs, parts, and maintain inventory at safe levels.
  • Evaluate dry-docking quotes and select shipyards for maintenance.
  • Verify repairs meet class standards through thorough inspections.
  • Conduct monthly vessel condition reviews and inspections; monitor class certs and surveys.
  • Maintain zero loss time accident record and report incidents to prevent recurrences.
  • Prepare annual budget for vessel maintenance covering routine and major work.

Job description

Responsible to oversee overall maintenance of the vessel, ensuring smooth operation of the vessel from technical point of view by providing comprehensive maintenance. Manage vessel overall condition such as cost-effective technical performance of assigned tanker vessels. Ensure compliance with Class/Flag and international conventions (ISM, MLC, MARPOL), drive PMS discipline, plan and execute dry dockings and major repairs, support vetting readiness, and improve asset integrity, energy efficiency, and lifecycle cost across the fleet.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking
  • Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement (Budget, Vessel Utilization etc.)
  • Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance
  • Identify vessel need in term of maintenance, parts required and ensure spare on inventory at least at safe level
  • Perform evaluation for dry-docking, repair quotes and selection of shipyards for repair works, ship maintenance etc.
  • Perform thorough check to each repaired items on board, ensuring repair quality are met with class standard
  • Perform monthly review of vessel condition and conduct vessel inspections if needed - Monitor technical status of vessel with relation to class cert. and survey
  • Ensure and maintain vessels zero loss time accident record and to report all vessel incidents, near Misses to prevent and eliminate potential incidents
  • Prepare annual budget for vessel maintenance taking care of (routine, incidental, parts and any overall maintenance/repair activity)
About you
  • Degree from maritime studies, with COC Class 1 Marine Engineer / ATT-1
  • Having experience as Chief Engineer on board at least 2 contract, preferable candidate with superintendent experience with substantial sea-going engineering background on tankers
  • Experience as Fleet/Technical Superintendent at least 3-4 years
  • Proven track record in dry dock/survey management, reliability improvement, and budget management
  • Solid knowledge of tanker systems (cargo pumps/IGS/boilers), automation/electrical, and class/statutory
  • Familiar with OCIMF/SIRE 2.0, TMSA, and PSC processes
  • Vast knowledge for Vessel operation, machineries troubleshoot and repair
  • Good communication skills and proficient in English
