Job summary

MatchaTalent seeks a Head of Mining Operations to lead underground mining activities at a remote Papua New Guinea site. You will shape development, production planning, contractor management, and a strong safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

You will manage large multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with Technical Services, Geology, and Executive Management to deliver safe, cost-efficient production in a challenging FIFO environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Must hold PNG Metalliferous Mine Manager's CoC or be eligible to obtain it.
• Minimum 10 years underground mining experience, with 5+ years in senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for underground mining operations and safety.
• Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.
• Champion safety compliance and risk management.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, and capex planning.
• Oversee contractor performance and safety adherence.
• Lead and mentor Mining Supervisors, Engineers, and crews.
• Monitor production performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across Technical Services, Geology, Processing, and leadership.
