Job summary

Purdue University is seeking an Evening Custodian Carpet Crew member to maintain campus facilities by cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture with various methods and equipment. The role includes backup coverage, securing areas, and occasional snow removal, with overtime potential.

The schedule features 4 x 10-hour shifts (Mon-Thu, 4:00pm–2:30pm). Minimum custodial experience and overall work experience are required, along with a valid driver’s license and onboarding within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Six months of custodial experience required.
• Total work experience of 24 months required.
• A valid US or Canadian Driver's License.
• Must complete onboarding training or be enrolled within 90 days of hire.
• Must read, speak, and understand English to communicate effectively.
• Basic math skills and good work organization; able to learn powered and non-powered floor care equipment.
• Must work well with others in a team environment.
• Adhere to safety procedures and wear PPE as required.
• Able to lift and carry 25–50 lbs frequently, up to 60 lbs occasionally.
• Will work outdoors about 10% of the time in extreme temperatures.

As a member of the Evening Custodian Carpet Crew, you will work under limited or indirect supervision, clean carpets and upholstered furniture using a variety of methods and specialty equipment.

• Provide backup custodial coverage for vacant work areas
• Lock and unlock assigned areas, respond to customer needs and requests
• Assist with snow removal
• May be required to work some overtime and vary scheduled work hours

Schedule

Monday - Thursday 4:00pm to 2:30pm (4 x 10-hour shifts per week)

Starting Pay

$16.00 plus $0.70 shift differential for a total of $16.70
