PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara seeks a Senior Environment Manager to lead the Environmental Department at site in West Sumbawa. You will develop and manage environmental programs, reclamation, monitoring, and regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with Indonesian regulations and company commitments.

  • Strong knowledge of permitting, reporting, and regulatory engagement.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, budgeting, and staff development.
  • Experience in mine closure, rehabilitation, biodiversity and watershed management.
  • Excellent English communication and document preparation skills.

Job description

  • To develop and manage environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable Government of Indonesia regulations, commitments specified in the Environmental Permit, Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans, company's environmental commitments and objectives, and other obligations.
  • Develop and execute reclamation and watershed rehabilitation plan.
  • Develop and execute environmental monitoring programs, including management of environmental laboratory.
  • With senior management team develop site environmental objectives and targets based on company policy, identified risk & opportunity, legal compliance and other requirements.
  • Develop environmental objectives and targets for the Environmental Department that are aligned with company and site business requirements.
  • Establish and maintain environmental standard and procedures in line with company vision, mission, and commitment reflecting best practices in the mining industry.
  • Work closely with senior management to develop appropriate management and permitting strategies so that developments, operational schedules and production targets can be realized.
  • Push the provision of advanced technical environmental evaluation and recommendations for major projects, design changes, mine and closure planning, current operating practices, environmental studies and critical monitoring results and trends to the operational groups of the department.
  • Continuously monitor and communicate environmental performance through monitoring, audit and inspections programs.
  • Conduct investigation and report environmental incidence and maintain effective system of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage the planning & project (reclamation), monitoring, and administrative functions of the Environmental Department.
  • To liaise with site senior leadership team, environmental compliance, ESG section and external stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
  • To manage & coach the compliance-reporting-improvement, planning & project (reclamation), monitoring, environmental advisors and administrative functions of the Environment Department.
  • Accountable for the execution of plans/projects in each of Environmental Department functions.
  • Responsible for the training and development of senior staff.
  • Ensure proper implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Management System across all relevant functions.

What skills and experience do you need?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Biology, Forestry, Geology, or other related environmental/science disciplines; Postgraduate qualification (Master’s Degree) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental management, compliance, monitoring, and regulatory programs within large-scale mining operations with complex environmental compliance requirements, or other comparable industries.
  • Strong background in environmental permitting and government reporting requirements. Proven experience in environmental permitting, environmental compliance management, and regulatory engagement.
  • Demonstrated managerial and supervisory experience, including team leadership, staff development, training, and budget management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mine closure, rehabilitation, biodiversity management, and watershed management programs; Experience in environmental monitoring programs, environmental sampling, reclamation, watershed rehabilitation, and environmental reporting.
  • Experience managing environmental projects and compliance programs in a large-scale mining operation is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance obligations applicable to mining operations.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental management systems and programs.
  • Ability to design, implement, and monitor reclamation and watershed rehabilitation programs.
  • Strong understanding of environmental monitoring methodologies, sampling protocols, laboratory testing processes, and environmental data analysis.
  • Ability to develop site-wide environmental objectives, targets, standards, and procedures aligned with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to formulate environmental and permitting strategies that support operational development and business continuity.
  • Strong capability in environmental risk assessment, technical evaluation, and compliance performance analysis.
  • Ability to conduct environmental audits, inspections, performance reviews, and compliance assessments.
  • Experience investigating environmental incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to effectively manage environmental planning, project execution, monitoring activities, and departmental administration.
  • Hold a valid POM (Pengawas Operasional Madya) certificate or equivalent qualification recognized by the Chief Mines Inspector (KaIT) in accordance with the position level.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary environmental teams; Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with regulators, consultants, contractors, and internal departments; Excellent planning, project management, and organizational skills; Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities; Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and advise senior management; Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
