Job summary

PT Wang Sarimulti Utama is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead our Engineering Department and drive successful New Product Development and manufacturing projects in the automotive plastics sector.

The ideal candidate will oversee Product Development, Tooling, Process Engineering, and Technical Manufacturing Support, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-budget execution while maintaining high quality and lean efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
• 10+ years in automotive manufacturing
• ≥5 years leading an Engineering team
• Experience in New Product Development (NPD) and project management within Plastic Injection Moulding, Fabrication, or Assembly industries
• Strong knowledge of engineering design, manufacturing processes, tooling, and production systems
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC (Automotive Core Tools)
• Ability to read and interpret 2D & 3D drawings
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and CATIA
• Good command of English
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Engineering functions, including Product Development, Tooling, Process Engineering, and Technical Manufacturing Support
• Manage New Product Development (NPD) activities from design review through mass production
• Plan and coordinate engineering projects, including manpower allocation, budgeting, project scheduling, and technical execution
• Coordinate product trials, testing, sample preparation, and submission to customers
• Ensure effective implementation of Automotive Core Tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC
• Serve as the primary technical representative for customers and suppliers
• Drive engineering improvements focused on quality, productivity, cost reduction, and manufacturing efficiency
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, PPIC, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Sales to ensure smooth project execution
• Monitor Engineering KPIs and prepare regular reports for Management
• Develop, coach, and evaluate Engineering team members

We are looking for an experienced Head Engineering to lead our Engineering Department and support the successful execution of new product development and manufacturing projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all Engineering functions, including Product Development, Tooling, Process Engineering, and Technical Manufacturing Support.

Manage New Product Development (NPD) activities from design review through mass production.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 10 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.

Minimum 5 years of experience leading an Engineering team.

Proven experience in New Product Development (NPD) and project management within Plastic Injection Moulding, Fabrication, or Assembly industries.

Strong understanding of engineering design, manufacturing processes, tooling, and production systems.

Strong knowledge of:

IATF 16949

APQP

PPAP

FMEA

MSA

SPC (Automotive Core Tools)

Familiar with Automotive Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).

Able to read and interpret 2D & 3D engineering drawings.

Proficient in AutoCAD and CATIA.

Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Excellent leadership, communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Able to work under pressure and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Automotive Plastic Injection Moulding industry.

Experience working with OEM and Tier-1 Automotive customers.

Familiar with ERP Systems and Engineering Change Management.

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
