Job summary

Surbana Jurong, SMEC division, seeks a capable engineer to support electrical and I&C projects in Jakarta. You will confirm scope with sponsors, prepare design & budgets, develop cost estimates, and finalize FEL stages to align with client objectives.

You will manage construction, commissioning, and handover, run power-system analyses with tools, and coordinate with HQ and onsite teams. The role may also serve as junior project manager when needed.

Responsibilities

• Confirm project scope and objectives with sponsor for electrical scope and possible I&C scope.
• Prepare preliminary design and Budget Estimate for proposal development and schedule for electrical and I&C scope with EHS considerations.
• Prepare Electrical and I&C Cost Estimates for client deliverables.
• Finalize electrical design (FEL-1, FEL-2, FEL-3 and DED) to meet client objectives.
• Manage project execution including construction, commissioning and start-up within scope, cost, schedule and safety standards.
• Forecast and control project cost, schedule, scope and safety to meet objectives for electrical and I&C scope.
• Collate handover documentation and close out per SMEC/SJ procedures.
• Design system diagrams, wiring layouts, and electrical schematics; size components for substations, microgrids and renewables integration.
• Perform analysis and modeling: load flow, short-circuit, fault analysis, relay coordination and arc flash assessments using ETAP, PSSE, DigSilent Power Factory, or similar tools.
• Assigned as junior project manager if required.
• Report to Senior Electrical Engineer and coordinate with HQ and on-site teams.

Job description

1. 1. Confirm detail project scope & objectives with project sponsor/client for electrical scope and possible I&C scope (return on investment, production level increase, standards to be achieved).
2. 2. Arrange preliminary design & prepare Budget Estimate (BE) for proposal development & schedule for electrical, I&C scope to enable project objectives including EHS considerations & requirements to be achieved (proposal and project execution stage).
3. 3. Prepare Electrical and I&C Cost Estimate as part of deliverables submitted to Client.
4. 4. Finalize electrical design (FEL-1, FEL-2, FEL-3 and DED stage) to meet Client's deliverables and project objectives.
5. 5. Manage project execution including construction assistance, commissioning & start up. Ensure all work is completed within scope, cost, schedule & safely in accordance with accepted standards & procedures.
6. 6. Forecast, report & control project cost, schedule, scope & safety to meet project objectives for electrical, I&C scope.
7. 7. Collate hand over documentation & close out the project, to ensure accurate records are available for Client's need and to meet SMEC/SJ close out procedures.
8. 8. Perform System Design and Planning with the following task: create single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring layouts, and electrical schematics, size system components like cables, transformers, and circuit breakers correctly, design substations, microgrids, and integration frameworks for renewable energy

Perform Analysis and Modeling with several activities: run load flow studies to check voltage drops and system capacity, perform short-circuit and fault analysis to test safety limits, conduct protective relay coordination and arc flash hazard evaluations and use specialized modeling software like ETAP, PSSE, DigSilent Power Factory, or similar tools
10. 10. Assigned as junior project manager if required.
11. 11. Report directly to Senior Electrical Engineer in day-to-day basis and in coordination with HQ and onsite technical and project management team.
