Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Diamond Drilling Supervisor to lead and coordinate drilling operations in Papua New Guinea. The role focuses on supervising crews, optimizing performance, maintaining safety, and ensuring equipment reliability across underground and surface sites.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in diamond drilling, 2+ years supervising field teams, and a strong track record in productivity, core recovery, and safety. Remote-site and FIFO/DIDO experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional diamond drilling experience in mining or exploration.
• At least 2 years supervising drilling crews and field-based teams.
• Experience managing diamond drilling programs in underground and/or surface sites.
• Proven track record of achieving productivity, core recovery, and safety targets.
• Experience in remote camp-based FIFO/DIDO operations and rotational rosters.
• Strong knowledge of drilling methods, performance optimization, and ground conditions.
• English language proficiency for supervision and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor drilling crews to ensure safe, efficient, and productive drilling operations.
• Coordinate daily drilling activities, manpower, equipment, and drilling schedules to achieve targets.
• Monitor drilling productivity, metreage, core recovery, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure high-quality core recovery and compliance with exploration requirements.
• Enforce safety and conduct hazard identifications and incident investigations.
• Monitor drill rig performance, equipment utilization, consumables, and maintenance needs.
• Prepare and submit operational reports covering performance, downtime, safety, and workforce activity.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, and site leadership.
• Support workforce development through coaching, training, and continuous improvement.
