Job summary

DayOne Data Center in Batam seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of critical mechanical systems in our data centres, and to lead a team of assistant facilities engineers and technicians.

You will ensure 24/7 coverage, uphold health and safety standards, and contribute to strategic initiatives with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills; PE certification is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience in data-centre environments.
• Strong knowledge of data centre mechanical infrastructure (HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors).
• Experience leading technical teams and 24/7 operations.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; PE or similar certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems in data centres
• Ensure HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps operate reliably and efficiently
• Implement and maintain mechanical safety policies and procedures
• Lead and develop a team of assistant facilities engineers and technicians
• Coordinate with shift teams for 24/7 coverage and smooth handovers
• Plan and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for mechanical maintenance and upgrades
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot mechanical issues
• Support leadership in developing strategic mechanical initiatives
