Job summary

Wesco invites applications for a Technician - Data Center to manage server and storage equipment, perform setup, maintenance and diagnostics in a secure, 24/7 data center environment. You will open vendor cases, coordinate with contractors, and support RMA processes for PSUs, switches and module components.

The position requires hands-on hardware troubleshooting, patching, cabling, and strong communication. Travel 0–25% may be required; English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• High School degree required; IT-related degree preferred.
• CCNA and CCNP certifications preferred.
• 2 years in an enterprise Data Center environment.
• Experience troubleshooting server hardware from major vendors.

Responsibilities

• Perform weekly sweeps of server and storage equipment and analyze logs.
• Diagnose server/storage connectivity issues and basic network fiber problems.
• Engage vendor support and track hardware fixes via cases.
• Assist with break/fix logistics and vendor escort for repairs.
• Oversee RMA processes for components like PSUs, switches, and modules.
• Provide hardware support for installations, moves, adds and changes.
• Decommission IT equipment and conduct regular facility inspections.
• Maintain inventory records and cycle counts for asset accuracy.
• Update documentation for structured cabling and patch panels.
• Track capacity: space, power, cooling, and patch panel availability.
• Follow incident/change management and submit routine activity reports.
• Light travel between sites as needed.
