Sinarmas Mining is seeking a CSR & External Relations Sulawesi professional on a contract basis in Southeast Sulawesi. You will build relations with local communities, government bodies and external stakeholders, and lead CSR programmes while managing communications and engagement initiatives.

The role requires 5+ years in CSR/community relations, fluency in English and Indonesian, and ability to travel across Southeast Sulawesi.

About the role

Sinarmas Mining is seeking a CSR & External Relations Sulawesi professional to join our operations team in Southeast Sulawesi on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in building and maintaining strong relationships between our mining operations and the local communities, government bodies, and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive corporate social responsibility programmes whilst managing external communications and community engagement initiatives. This position requires someone who can balance the strategic interests of the company with genuine community development, ensuring sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships in our operating regions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes tailored to the needs and priorities of local communities in Southeast Sulawesi
• Manage relationships with local government agencies, community leaders and non-governmental organisations to ensure alignment on development initiatives
• Conduct community impact assessments and stakeholder consultations to identify and address social and environmental concerns
• Prepare and deliver communications materials, reports and presentations for external stakeholders including government, media and community representatives
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CSR initiatives, collecting data and feedback to continuously improve programme delivery
• Represent Sinarmas Mining at community events, public forums and official meetings to enhance company reputation and community trust
• Manage community grievance mechanisms and respond promptly to concerns or complaints raised by local stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal teams across operations, health, safety and environment to integrate CSR objectives into business planning
• Document and report on CSR activities, outcomes and lessons learned to senior management and regulatory bodies

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate social responsibility, community relations or external affairs, preferably within the mining or extractive industries
• Strong understanding of Indonesian regulatory requirements relating to CSR obligations and community engagement in mining operations
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing sustainable development programmes in resource-rich or rural communities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both English and Indonesian (Indonesian language proficiency is essential)
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and navigate cultural sensitivities in community settings
• Experience in government relations and liaison with local and regional government bodies
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Knowledge of environmental and social impact assessment methodologies
• Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
• Flexibility to travel regularly throughout Southeast Sulawesi and occasionally to other operational sites
• Certification or training in CSR, community development or related fields would be advantageous
