Job description

Granger Reis are currently representing an international Tier 1 mining organisation with significant presence and visibility in Indonesia, including multiple mines and processing infrastructure.

The Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer (CSCAO) is a member of our client's Board of Directors and executive leadership team. The role leads the integrated strategy and execution required to protect their licence to operate, strengthen stakeholder confidence and ensure that sustainability and corporate affairs considerations are embedded in business decisions.

The CSCAO will provide enterprise-wide leadership across an unusually broad portfolio. The individual will shape their environmental, social and governance strategy; lead corporate social responsibility and community engagement; manage the company's communications and reputation; cultivate institutional and government relationships; oversee mining-related permits and land matters; and establish a security strategy that protects people, assets and operations.

This is a pivotal appointment at a time of material growth and transition. The CSCAO will help the business balance the demands of an established operating asset with the stakeholder, permitting, land and social-performance requirements of new projects. They will create coherence across functions and locations, establish clear governance and accountabilities, and ensure emerging risks and opportunities are visible to decision-makers early.

Role Priorities
  • Develop an integrated sustainability and corporate affairs strategy aligned with the business plan, operational priorities and growth portfolio.
  • Strengthen trusted relationships with national, provincial and local government, communities, shareholders, partners, regulators and other priority stakeholders.
  • Embed effective governance, performance measures, reporting and early-warning mechanisms across ESG, stakeholder, reputation, permitting, land and security risks.
  • Ensure the business communicates with clarity and consistency, including during periods of controversy, disruption or heightened external scrutiny.
  • Build an aligned, high-performing leadership team across the CSCAO portfolio and develop organisational capability below the Board.
