Job summary

Hilton Jakarta Bintaro Jaya is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all hotel engineering operations, plant and equipment, and ensure the safety and reliability of building systems.

You will lead maintenance, capital projects, and regulatory compliance while driving sustainability initiatives and building a high-performing team to deliver memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or relevant certification.
• 10+ years in hotel/building services or related field, 5+ years as Chief/Assistant Chief Engineer in a 5-star hotel.
• Trade expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing/Gas Fitting.
• Able to work a flexible schedule; available 24/7 for emergencies.
• Specialized knowledge in HVAC, water treatment, hydraulics, chillers, electronics, lighting, elevators, fire safety and related systems.
• Maintains all hotel building services (security, A/C, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, laundry, lifts, TV/sound systems).
• Familiar with government regulations and technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead facility operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient functionality of buildings and systems.
• Oversee facility maintenance, inspections, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems.
• Direct capital projects and property rehabilitations, including budgeting and permitting, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Manage work order fulfillment and documentation in the maintenance system.
• Ensure regulatory compliance through coordination with government officials and safety standards.
• Cultivate a high-performing team through performance management and professional development.
• Foster cross-department communication and strong customer service with guests.

In addition, this role requires the following minimum qualifications:

• Engineering degree or relevant certification

• Strong engineering background with trade expertise, trade-qualified in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing/Gas Fitting
• Adapt to a flexible schedule; available 24/7 for emergencies
• Specialized knowledge in HVAC, water treatment, hydraulics, chillers, electronics, lighting, elevators, fire safety, and related systems
• Skilled in maintaining all hotel building services (e.g., security, A/C, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, laundry, lifts, TV/sound systems)
• Familiar with government regulations and technical standards

Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:

• Partner in leading facility operations: Assist in directing the functionality, safety, and compliance of buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, life safety systems, and grounds in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Oversee facility maintenance: Perform facility inspections and supervise construction, installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems
• Support property improvement projects: Assist in directing capital projects and property rehabilitations – including scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, and licensing/permitting – while ensuring regulatory compliance
• Oversee work order fulfillment: Ensure routine maintenance and repairs are assigned, verified, and documented in the property maintenance management system
• Ensure regulatory compliance: Communicate with government officials to maintain permits, coordinate inspections, and uphold safety and code standards
• Cultivate a high-performing team: Drive engagement and retention through performance management, professional development, and recognition programs
• Communication & Collaboration: Ensure professional, efficient, and thorough communication between Engineering and all other hotel areas, fostering positive interactions at both individual and department levels.
• Customer Service Focus: Maintain a high customer service focus, respecting guest privacy and ensuring their comfort and confidentiality.
• Sustainability & Efficiency: Manage the Lightstay Corporate Responsibility platform, drive sustainability projects, and monitor asset efficiencies on the building automation system.
