Job summary

Cabot Corporation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform complex installations and repairs across mechanical maintenance areas. You may lead in-house technicians or oversee contractors, handling machinery, equipment, and plant facilities with high expertise.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, a vocational/technical mechanical education, and a certified apprenticeship. You will work under limited supervision and may lead teams during major plant events and turnarounds,

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience of mechanical maintenance and repair procedures and methods.
• Knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools including their design and uses.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, instructions; ability to use shop power tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment.
• Flexibility in performing changing assignments; ability to work off shift and after hours as needed.
• Vocational/technical, mechanical school and completed (certified) apprenticeship required.
• 3-5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical expertise in mechanical maintenance.
• Perform maintenance, diagnosis, repair and installation of manufacturing equipment.
• Respond to escalated problems and perform equipment repairs as required.
• Lead a team during major plant events such as turnarounds; coordinate with contractors.
• Develop inspection and maintenance schedules with supervisors and planners.
• Maintain records of maintenance activity and spare parts inventory.

Your Role at Cabot

Under limited supervision, performs the most complex installations and repairs in any of the mechanical maintenance specialty areas, such as mechanical, welding, heating, or piping. May lead a team of in-house maintenance technicians and/or oversees work of outside contractors. Very experienced in various maintenance skills, performs repairs and maintains machinery, equipment, and other plant facilities. May focus on a particular skilled-trades specialty.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Provides leadership and technical expertise in mechanical maintenance.
• Perform as a maintenance technician in the diagnosing, maintenance, repair, installation of manufacturing equipment.
• Responds to escalated problems and perform equipment repairs as required.
• Has lead responsibilities in special events, such as major turnarounds at plants and may lead a group of in-house maintenance technicians and/or outside contractors during this time.
• In larger facilities, may have on-going lead responsibilities.
• Works closely with Maintenance Supervisor/ Manager or Maintenance Planners to identify trends and contributes to the development of inspection and maintenance schedules.
• Uses the computer to maintain records pertaining to maintenance activity and spare parts inventory.
• May participate in spare parts management.
• Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.
• Keeps work areas clean.
