Job summary

Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) is seeking a Carbon Development & MRV Specialist based in Jakarta to lead forest carbon project development and MRV systems. You will design monitoring protocols, strengthen data management, and ensure readiness for validation and verification through cross-functional collaboration with forestry, GIS, biodiversity, and finance teams.

Together with YKAN, theCarbon Development & MRV Specialist leads the development and implementation of forest carbon projects by strengthening MRV systems, carbon accounting, monitoring frameworks, and databases. The role ensures project quality, compliance, and readiness for validation and verification through technical assessments, methodology application, and preparation of required documentation

The Carbon Development & MRV Specialist leads the development and implementation of forest carbon projects by designing and strengthening MRV systems, carbon accounting frameworks, monitoring protocols, data management systems, and technical documentation in line with international carbon standards. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across carbon, forestry, GIS, biodiversity, social safeguards, legal, and finance, this role conducts technical assessments, supports methodology application and validation/verification processes, develops scalable monitoring and reporting systems, and ensures the successful delivery of high-quality carbon projects.

The Carbon Development & MRV Specialist reports to the Sustainable Production Forestry Manager and is based in Jakarta .

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor degree with 5 years of professional experience in forest carbon project development, carbon accounting, MRV system development, forestry and land-use projects, nature-based solutions, and carbon project validation and verification processes.
• Experience negotiating complex agreements.
• Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
• Excellent communication skills through written, spoken, and graphical means in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for data analysis, reporting, and technical documentation. This includes experience in conducting spatial analysis (GIS and/or remote sensing) in the context of carbon project development using relevant tools and technologies.
