Job summary

East West Seed Indonesia is seeking a Biosystems Engineering Specialist to lead end-to-end farm engineering projects, integrating smart farming technologies with plant science to boost efficiency and trial accuracy.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, design and test precision irrigation, greenhouse automation, and MIS reporting, and be willing to travel and potentially relocate to Purwakarta, West Java.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 1+ year exp or Master's with 2–3+ years exp in Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering.
• Proven scientific writing ability is required.
• Deep expertise in plant physiology-engineering interactions and field/greenhouse experimental design.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design of farm engineering projects including precision irrigation and smart greenhouse automation.
• Establish protocols for testing emerging Ag-Tech (IoT, sensors) and efficient water-energy use.
• Drive adoption of Harmonized Mechanization Index (HMI) and optimize machinery (Alsintan) using MIS.
• Develop drone/camera-based remote sensing and sensor arrays for automated phenotyping and trial monitoring.
• Collaborate with breeders, agronomists, plant physiologists and data scientists to align designs.

Job description

Biosystems Engineering Specialist is responsible for leading the end-to-end design and implementation of farm engineering projects by integrating smart farming technologies, mechanization standardization, and digital phenotyping. This role aims to bridge modern engineering with plant science, optimizing operational efficiency, crop trial accuracy, and sustainable infrastructure to add value to the company's agricultural operations.

Key responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end design of farm engineering projects, optimizing precision irrigation, smart greenhouse automation, and fertigation systems.

Establish testing protocols for emerging Ag-Tech (IoT, sensors) and design water-energy-efficient, circular waste.

Drive the adoption of Harmonized Mechanization Index (HMI) and manage machinery (Alsintan) optimization through MIS reporting.

Development drone/camera-based remote sensing (RGB/Multispectral) and sensor arrays for automated plant phenotyping and trial monitoring.

Collaborate with Breeders, Agronomists, Plant physiologist and Data Scientists to align engineering designs.

About you

Ph.D. with 1+ year exp. or Master’s with 2–3+ years exp. in Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering (with proven scientific writing).

Deep expertise in plant physiology-engineering interactions, field/greenhouse experimental design, and complex data analysis.

Proficient in AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks, GIS, and Data Processing software.

Hands-on literacy in precision Ag-Tech: IoT, remote sensing, automated control, and digital phenotyping interpretation.

Strong leadership, communication, and SOP documentation skills with absolute scientific integrity.

Willing to travel frequently and open to relocation based in Purwakarta, West Java
