Job summary

GEA is seeking an Automation Engineer to support automation engineering for projects from contract signature through completion. You will deliver projects on time, within quality and budget, coordinating with Lead/Senior Engineers and cross-functional teams.

The role involves handling 2–8 projects per year, travel approximately 45%, performing IO tests, and overseeing FAT while ensuring safety and compliance with GEA standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Automation or related engineering field.
• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge required.
• Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA programming and HMI systems.
• Knowledge of industry standards (S88, S95, S101) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure automation engineering complies with customer specs and GEA norms.
• Develop and maintain functional analyses and engineering documentation.
• Liaise with external suppliers for material procurement and oversee panel assembly and FAT.
• Execute IO tests and system checks, ensuring safety during commissioning.
• Contribute to productivity improvements and engineering innovations across projects.
• Report progress to Automation Project Leader and share knowledge across teams.

Responsibilities / Tasks

1. General Role Purpose

• Support implementation of automation engineering for projects from contract signature through completion.
• Deliver projects on time, on quality, and within budget while ensuring high customer satisfaction.
• Handle 2-8 projects per year.
• Follow established project methodologies and ensure compliance throughout execution.
• Expected travel and commissioning: ~45%.
• Projects mainly in SEA, with possible extension into APAC.
• Work primarily within a project team, coordinated with Lead/Senior Engineers and other project engineers.

2. Operational Responsibilities

Automation Engineering Execution

• Ensure automation engineering compliance with: Customer specifications Functional analysis GEA norms Automation standards
• Develop and maintain functional analyses.
• Produce engineering documentation following GEA procedures.

Procurement & Vendor Engagement

• Liaise with external suppliers for material procurement.
• Supervise electrical panel assembly and FAT.

Testing & Commissioning

• Execute IO tests, including basic electrical measurements and system checks.
• Continuously evaluate safety during commissioning.
• Comply with regulatory and GEA safety requirements at all times.

Project Productivity & Innovation

• Contribute to improvements in: Project productivity Tools, methods, and engineering innovation Automation and/or electrical domain enhancements

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Promote skills and ideas sharing across teams.
• Report regularly on automation and site assembly task progress to the Automation Project Leader.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Education

• Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
• Expertise in automation, control systems, pneumatics, and industrial electricity.
• Hands-on experience with: PLC Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell
• HMI Programming: Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Ignition
• Familiarity with industry standards such as S88, S95, and S101.
• Sound understanding of hygienic design principles and QHSE standards in industrial environments.
• High level of technical awareness across integrated engineering systems.
