Job summary

DayOne invites highly experienced professionals to join as Assistant Project Manager for MEP construction within our data center initiatives in Batam. This leadership role oversees planning, execution, and handover across HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems, coordinating with site teams and contractors to meet milestones.

You will manage risk, budgets, and communications with stakeholders while ensuring regulatory compliance and high safety standards throughout the project

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction project management experience in MEP/engineering, preferably data centers.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, power, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
• Experience with authority approvals and IST testing in data centers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire MEP construction lifecycle, including planning, execution, and handover phases.
• Coordinate with site and contractor teams to ensure timely completion of M&E project milestones.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring clear communication of updates on schedules, budgets, and technical issues to stakeholders.
• Lead MEP specific contract negotiations and oversee amendments with architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate MEP construction methods for cost-effectiveness, monitor budget adherence, and produce regular progress and financial reports.
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities, ensuring adherence to project standards.
• Provide support to local teams on customer discussions regarding M&E project progress and any technical challenges.
• Collaborate closely with external consultants to ensure effective design and construction of MEP systems within data centers, covering HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing and other critical infrastructure.
• Ensure the successful handover of MEP systems to operational teams, addressing any outstanding issues or deficiencies.
• Lead safety initiatives on-site, ensuring full compliance with MEP regulations and industry standards.
• Oversee adherence to all relevant permitting and government authority requirements for MEP projects.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the project team.
• Implement advanced project management and quality control techniques to optimize M&E project outcomes.

Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager oversees the comprehensive lifecycle of MEP construction projects, ensuring efficient project planning, execution, and handover. This role requires expertise in managing mechanical and electrical systems, coordinating with site teams and contractors, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders to meet project objectives.

Responsibilities

Project Management & Leadership

• Oversee the entire MEP construction lifecycle, including planning, execution, and handover phases.
• Coordinate with site and contractor teams to ensure timely completion of M&E project milestones.

Contract & Financial Management

• Lead MEP specific contract negotiations and oversee amendments with architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate MEP construction methods for cost-effectiveness, monitor budget adherence, and produce regular progress and financial reports.

Stakeholder & Contractor Relations

• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities, ensuring adherence to project standards.
• Provide support to local teams on customer discussions regarding M&E project progress and any technical challenges.

Design & Systems Coordination

• Collaborate closely with external consultants to ensure effective design and construction of MEP systems within data centers, covering HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing and other critical infrastructure.
• Ensure the successful handover of MEP systems to operational teams, addressing any outstanding issues or deficiencies.

Safety & Compliance

• Lead safety initiatives on-site, ensuring full compliance with MEP regulations and industry standards.
• Oversee adherence to all relevant permitting and government authority requirements for MEP projects.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the project team.
• Implement advanced project management and quality control techniques to optimize M&E project outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in construction project management within the MEPor engineering field; additional experience in data center projects is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in delivering large-scale MEP projects, with strong knowledge of HVAC, power systems, fire protection and plumbing.
• Expertise in MEP systems, local authority approval processes, and testing and commissioning of critical infrastructure in data centers, including Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Solid understanding of CAPEX planning, cost estimation, and total cost of ownership (TCO) for M&E systems in data centers.
• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
• Proficiency in project management tools, MS Project, and MS Office, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, collaboration, and resilience under pressure.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages in the APAC region are advantageous.
