Job summary

Oak Tree School seeks an Assistant Headteacher to provide operational leadership and support the day-to-day running of the provision. You will translate priorities into effective practice, lead systems that secure high standards in education, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' successful teaching experience within a school setting.
• Experience across pastoral and academic contexts in special schools, alternative provision or ARPs/units.
• Experience leading and managing a team at middle leadership level.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operation of the school, including staffing deployment and policy implementation.
• Lead operational systems covering behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, visits, transport, health and safety, and site coordination.
• Ensure systems support pupils with SEND, working with families, therapists and external agencies.
• Line manage designated colleagues, supporting recruitment, induction, coaching and professional development.
• Monitor safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, health and safety and other compliance systems.
• Lead operational audits and contribute to inspection readiness.
• Support school self-evaluation and school improvement priorities.
• Support efficient management of school resources and smooth running of the school.
• Develop and maintain relationships with parents, carers, external agencies and regulators.
