Job summary

RINA is seeking a South Asia Pacific Hull Plan Approval Engineer to join the Jakarta office. The role focuses on elaborating detailed plan reviews, resolving design conflicts, and ensuring client requirements and standards are met for new builds, conversions, and existing vessels.

Responsibilities include reviewing hull structural drawings, assisting during design and construction, and delivering technical reports while coordinating with engineers and project managers.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in ship structural design, shipbuilding, or classification society plan approval.
• Strong knowledge of ship structure, strength analysis, and material properties.
• Familiarity with Classification Society Rules (e.g., RINA, DNV, ABS, BV, LR) and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, CSR, IACS URs, IMO codes).
• Experience with plan approval procedures, including the review of drawings for compliance with class and statutory requirements.
• Proficiency in ship structural analysis tools (e.g., Ansys, FEMAP, MAESTRO, NAPA Steel) and CAD software.
• Understanding of finite element analysis (FEA), fatigue assessment, and buckling calculations.
• Familiarity with welding standards, shipyard practices, and structural fabrication techniques.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve hull structural drawings of ships, offshore units, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations.
• Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to structural design.
• Provide support for the elaboration of detailed marine engineering plan review, in compliance with applicable RINA rules, international conventions and contractual requirements.
• Provide support for the resolution of issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.
• Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements, visit sites to take measurements.
• Prepare the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations and engineering drawings).
• Take ownership of the financial progress of assigned tasks.
• Understand and apply project management concepts providing feedback to project manager.
